Period from First Quarter Moon to Capricorn Lunar Eclipse

The challenge of the First Quarter Moon might have thrown us off balance somehow as our inner peace could have been disturbed if we had to deal with a setback, impasse or impediment or some other form of defeat, or so it might seem from our standpoint at least. In case we were vacillating in our approach, side-stepping the issue at hand, we had to overcome this hurdle too. Jupiter Rx’s semi-sextile to a stationary Uranus together with Mars in Taurus’ semi-sextile to Eris in Aries on June 30th remind us that there’s always hope as long as we don’t fight unnecessarily our forward movement and resist the need for change or give up instead of being persistent as well as open to the possibilities offered to us. Awareness of the meaning of our experiences enriches our understanding, bestows invaluable guidance on our individual journey and enables us to envision brighter tomorrows.

Insightfulness is particularly important in the event of Uranus’ station in the supersensible sign Pisces at the beginning of his 5-months-long retrograde journey that corresponds to a phase of inner reshaping by tuning in to higher vibrations. This concentrated upstirring energy, inducing the principle of dynamic reversal and reform, in addition to the aspects of Venus in Taurus and Mercury in Gemini to Uranus and the triple conjunction in Aquarius, Uranus’ sign, during the first couple of days in July will propel initial alterations in our attitude in this regard after a process of evaluating material factors and personal assets in long-term perspective and based on facts and foresight. Some of the answers can be found within and may lead us to question which trends and expectations we want to sustain or indulge in. Where we’ve been illusive in our thinking and wishing will become unsettingly apparent now.

Both inner planets are strongly placed in their own signs and linked by semi-sextile, suggesting that these energies are operating in a potent, complementary fashion to ensure that we truly are capable of higher sensitivity, validating every single moment and every person in our life with the blossoming of the mental seed planted at the inferior conjunction. Should we still be using our usual style of emotionally colored responding and repeating the same mental dance that brought us so many headaches in the first place instead of attempting to detach from the subject matter for more objectivity and flexibility, this might turn into quite a struggle as the Sun in Cancer will contribute tense octiles to the aspect pattern, urging us to break out of this unhealthy cycle that only hurts our feelings and those of others. Making the transition from subconsciously reacting to consciously choosing will be stressed throughout this growth period to prevent us from falling back into unproductive habits.

Juno will ingress Aries and Mercury Cancer on July 2 and 3, thereby contacting the Aries Point to raise “the personal to the level of the political”, while a complex aspect configuration is building that involves Pallas in Leo’s octiles to the Juno-Mercury square. Due to the latest realizations we might have experienced our outlook could have changed toward more positiveness and we could see some of our problems in a different light so that we may start afresh in the ways we interact with and relate to others, expressing more support and care. However, on these couple of days we will have to find a strategy between being direct and determined and voicing warmth and empathy. Therefore, the message we want to get across will be depending on the tone we adopt and how instinctive we treat the subject, whereby we have to rely on creative maneuvering.  Mercury in Cancer’s opposition to Pluto Rx in Capricorn on July 4th indicates a confrontation of our concious thoughts with their psychic contents in regard to which influences we want to nourish. In this context, we may have to face certain obsessions that have us clinging to past conditioning and other all too familiar ways of thinking.

On the 5th will Venus ingress Gemini and participate in this dialogue by casting a sextile to Juno in Aries and a quincunx to Pluto Rx on the next day. Venus’ energy shift from earth to air, though an uncomfortable placement for Venus, will certainly facilitate a lighter style of mingling and dealing with our desire nature that could help us to be less attached, but more curious and on flirting terms with life. Thus, we may want to take advantage of the opportunity and make advances in a relationship situation from which we could profit personally and financially. At the same time will Mars in Taurus engage in a square to the triple conjunction in Aquarius and a sextile to Uranus Rx in Pisces, while Pallas in Leo will sesqui-quadrate Pluto Rx in Capricorn, thereby stressing to think of ourselves and how we manage our resources against the backdrop of our personal power, which ideally will be providing the proverbial trigger to act on behalf of our future in the sense we’ve been imagining it in order to make progress in the direction of the hoped for outcome.  The Lunar Eclipse on July 7th, highlighting the Capricorn/Cancer axis, will elucidate the growth achieved as the foundation we’ve laid down for our ‘building’ that’ll be forming the base for all further operations we intend to carry out.

From Cancer New Moon to First Quarter Moon

Cancer New Moon 2009

The Sabian Symbol pertaining to the zodiacal degree highlighted by the Cancer New Moon states:

“A man on a magic carpet hovers over a large area of land. Keynote: The ability to expand one’s consciousness by stabilizing one’s point of view at a higher level – Elevation.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolic Phases”, Page 111)

Adding to the significance of this exalted moment in time, the Cancer New Moon follows on the heels of the Summer Solstice, the Venus-Mars conjunction in Taurus and to top it, bonds with Vesta, symbol of the sacred fire.  Overlapping cycles always herald major turning points, especially if they happen on or around a cross quarter day as in this case and precede the eclipse season, whose impending arrival we may already feel with every fibre of our body and senses. This is a seed bestowed with tremendous potency, holding great promise for personal evolution and Self-consecration. Mentioning the otherworldly and supernal in form of the man on the magic carpet is a reference to the spiritual realm or dimension as the basis from which to operate, corresponding to Vesta’s archetype as the keeper of the flame that energizes the center. By being uplifted from the material level into the air our perspective alters; the view becomes clearer, reaches farther and is more detached from the physical aspect of life, getting in touch with subtler, translucent spheres. Thus, with this shift in our perception our attitude will change too as an exteriorization of the sensations we experience. Venus’ and Mars previous conjunction in the omega degree of the zodiac has opened a channel to attune our emotive-assertive nature to a higher vibration. Their current conjunction in the earthy sign Taurus emphasizes stabilization and sustainment of this impulse as implied by the keynote of the Sabian Symbol.

Accordingly, powerful aspects dominate the lunation chart, focalizing around the opposition between the Sun-Moon-Vesta conjunction in Cancer and Pluto Rx in Capricorn, with the former semi-squaring the Venus-Mars conjunction in Taurus, connected by trine to Saturn in Virgo and by sesqui-quadrate to Pluto Rx. Implied is that the creative impulse sounding forth with this lunation is bound to our commitment to the transformative process in order for us to be able to erect a strong support structure for the Self-improving results we’ve achieved and which are constituting the foundation for the temple of our personality, supposed to become a beautiful shrine of worship. Intensified pressure from within as well as without is intended to strengthen our dedication to move us out of complacency when necessary, because this may entail hard work in partially slow, cumbersome steps to ensure a solid procedure. Internal crises will serve the build up of resilience for the confrontations with our shadow and its attempts to stifle the sacred flame during moments of reacting in habitual and instinctive behavorial patterns. However, the measure of self-control we’ve summoned so far in addition to the trials we’ve mastered should suffice to ready us for the tasks that lay ahead, inclusive the obstacles and blockages in our path we have to conquer. Once we realize that all of life is sacred, we may recognize our own place and function in this grand design and begin to resonate to the underlying natural rhythm in a more harmonious vibe. That’ll be the balance needed to manage the ‘magic carpet in midair’ as we’re familiarizing ourselves with this element/environment.

Mercury in Gemini will square the approaching Ceres-Saturn conjunction in Virgo on June 25th and 26th together with Pallas in Leo’s sesqui-quadrate to Uranus in Pisces. Then, it’ll be critical to sporadically pause in our thoughts and think things through before talking. Thus, we’ll have a chance to stop counterproductive mental tendencies from emerging into our consciousness and taking over our attitude. Reforming deeply ingrained thought structures is a difficult, toilsome process that requires the planting and cultivating of nourishing mental food that’s healthy for body and soul. This in turn demands from us to establish respect, humility and gratitude for all that is, co-exists with us and in which we have a part. Venus in Taurus’ semi-sextile to Eris in Aries on the 27th and Mercury in Gemini’s semi-sextile to Mars in Taurus on the 28th instruct us to make these inner adjustments and to apply mindfulness in all our dealings as a platform for constructive growth. The “crisis in action” associated with the First Quarter Moon on June 29th will bring a test in regard to the lessons learnt. As the waxing Libra Moon squares the Cancer Sun in addition to Mercury in Gemini’s sextile to Eris in Aries we’re supposed to find a way in the middle, especially in case past programming will fight for the overhand, to strike the right chord during a challenging situation.

FROM NEW MOON TO NEW MOON – FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS AND REMAINING DAYS OF THE LUNAR MONTH

Sagittarius Full Moon 2009

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 17:07 Sagittarius states:

“Children playing on the beach, their heads protected by sunbonnets. Keynote: The protection society affords to as yet immature individuals as they begin to deal with the powerful energies of their unconscious nature – Protectiveness.”

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 17:07 Gemini states:

“Two Chinese Men converse in their native tongue in an American city. Keynote: The need for the mind to retain its independence from its physical environment in order to concentrate on its special problems – Insulation.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolic Phases”, Pages 220-221 and 101-102, respectively)

Succeeding the waxing trine between Mars in Taurus and Pluto Rx in Capricorn is a tense aspect configuration, which acts like a catalyst, facilitating the restructuring process by increasing the pressure on our performance. Lately, new intentions have been ‘born’ and reinforced, thereby consolidating our personal power. Now, that we’ve successfully built up sufficient motivation, we’ve strenghtened our position and have to continue doing so when things will come to a head with the climax of this particular lunation cycle that has been infused with the energy of a retrograde Mercury and called for a return to the source. Consequently, we might have been reminded of pastimes, whereby forgotten memories might have resurfaced, touching upon old sentimentalities and bestowing us with a sense of nostalgia, which could have reopened wounds in some instances, bringing healing to others.

Thus, we might have been pondering the quality of our lives in regard to contentment and fulfilment. Conclusions we’ve reached most likely triggered the desire to rectify obvious disadvantages in our circumstances, which could’ve initiated a series of course corrections that required careful steering on our part. This approach could’ve paid off and at the same time advanced our possibilities further than expected.  Therefore, the time seemed perfect now to assume more control over our lives and focus on our goals. A decision may have to be made that could involve a matter of personal preferences against the backdrop of plain necessities, whereby we would need to evaluate all facts and details wisely, inclusive our resourcefulness. Also, we’ll have to be reasonable in case the matter will be too complicated or too complex to be resolved to our satisfaction. We might just have to concentrate on what’s best for us and will work out at this time. In the end, this could prove more valid and might also serve our needs better. On the other hand, it’ll be crucial to protect our self-interests under the pressure of outside influences, attempting to impose their will upon us to a point that could feel patronizing.

Therefore, the situation could demand to center ourselves and to tap this source of strength for us to be consequent as well as self-assured enough to honor our choice and live with the consequences. Self-worth issues will have to be addressed throughout this episode, which will assist us in overcoming insecurities and develop trust in our own judgment. While we’ll be getting to the bottom of the issues that keep us divided inside, we could discover our permanent values and this knowledge could finally ground us safely within ourselves when we’ll have to deal with a recurring problem concerning our individual hopes and expectations. When Mercury in Taurus will perfect his square to the triple conjunction in Aquarius for the third time, he will also cast a sextile to Uranus in Pisces, thereby providing us with an opportunity to make progress in this regard by thinking outside of the box and being receptive toward unusual suggestions. Vesta in Gemini will join this aspect pattern from June 10 -12 with harmonious trines to the triple conjunction and a square to Uranus, enabling us to consciously choose among our options what is right for us individually and in sync with our soul’s purpose. Moments, and for that matter life, can pass by quickly and if we aren’t aware of their fleetigness, we could easily miss the quality of time and the specialness of the occasion. Once we reach this understanding we will also know that certain opportunities won’t return and that we can’t turn back the clocks of our lives. This realization could be the decisive factor in our thought process that could change our overall attitude and elevate our spirit. Filled with sheer excitement we could be inclined toward spontaneity and spin our wheels. A sextile between the Sun in Gemini and Eris in Aries may additionally flare up the ‘bubbleness’, thereby supporting self-affirmative action.

Mercury’s Gemini ingress on the 13th will stimulate all communications and contacts, fostering mobility, adaptability and connectivity. The theme of duality will be emphasized in all our thoughts and dealings. This could cause some stress already on the next day, when Juno in Pisces and Mars in Taurus will engage in a tense semi-square, pressing us to make our intentions clear in a relationship situation so that first tangible steps can be undertaken, which could end a period of being clueless and undecided. From now on can we shift the questing within as Jupiter will station retrograde prior to the Third Quarter Phase of the lunation cycle, concentrating the expansive energy for mental guidance during the “crisis in consciousness”. Testing subjective and objective contents in our perception, the waning Pisces Moon will square the Gemini Sun to force a distinction between illusive-wishful longing and factual-logical thinking. The quincunx between Mercury in Gemini and Pluto Rx in Capricorn on the next morning marks an adjustment that might require replacing an idea with another in order to swiftly formulate a new plan as the situation intensifies.

Over the next few days, leading up to the Cancer New Moon, will a challenging planetary dialogue unfold between the closing conjunction of Mars and Venus in Taurus, linked by semi-squares to the closing conjunction of Juno and Uranus in Pisces and by trine to Ceres in Virgo. Another trine will be formed by the Sun in Gemini to the triple conjunction in Aquarius in addition to a square from the Sun to the coupling of Juno and Uranus. Our latest experiences concerning our emotional security needs and Self-assertiveness, and particularly the insights derived from introspection during Mercury’s retrograde tour, have most likely undermined our principle of relating in subtle ways until self-defeating tendencies were dissolved to bring about a turnaround in our personality. As anima and animus conjoin in the earthy sign of Taurus an inner bond has been forged from which renewed vitality and joie de vivre can surge forth and subsequently, we could undergo a reinvention and reform our style of relating. There could be a strong insistence on our part, driving us to pursue our objectives with relentless zeal that could come across as unprecedented resoluteness and pushiness from our side as we could finally see the silver lining on the horizon, bringing us closer to the fulfilment of a long-standing dream. However, our persuasiveness, gushing charm and eloquence could also have an irresistible affect on others and create collaboration. Mercury in Gemini’s semi-square to Eris in Aries indicates that mindfulness will be critical in our conversations.

After completion of this personality ‘budding’ and training the harvesting of the fruits of our labor awaits us, because we supported our own growth and undertook an important step toward nourishing our soul. Accordingly, first Vesta and then the Sun will ingress Cancer to keep us committed in this regard and to take care of this personality we’ve been building up. The Summer Solstice is the time of the year when the Sun stands highest in the Northern Hemisphere’s skies and the ‘birth into personality’ reaches its peak. This ‘stasis’ corresponds to a celebration of life’s and personality vibrancy. A semi-square from the Cancer Sun to the Venus-Mars conjunction together with a sextile from Mercury in Gemini to Pallas in Leo on the 21st urges us to act in this sense and to enjoy ourselves instead of withdrawing into our shell. On the 22nd will the Sun conjunct Vesta in Cancer amidst the trine from the Venus-Mars conjunction to Saturn in Virgo and followed by the New Moon. Mastering this latest crisis could show us that our efforts were well worth it and that Self-improvement has been achieved, giving rise to a new cycle of personality focalization into spiritual growth to feed the soul.
