A trine between Venus and Pallas on March 1st opens the door for profound mental reflection, for approaching a complex issue wisely and gently, thus lending subtlety to an otherwise unhindered outpouring of feeling impressions, just in time for Mercury’s Pisces ingress to prevent any misunderstandings from arising. From now on, our message carries more of an emotive tone as our mind is transmitting from a sensitive-perceptive level. Imagination is heightened and emotions flow into our thought process. Ideally, this phase will ultimately enable us to empathize with another, although awareness is a requirement. Mercury’s first aspect in Piscean colors is a quincunx to a fiery retrograde Mars. In this case, the emotive-intuitive mentality is supposed to transcend the impulsive energy by intercepting instinctive reactions from rushing straight to the head. With the Moon covering the final degrees of Virgo for most of the day, pointing out flaws and addressing worries becomes our second nature. So, take a deep breath and try to hold back a bit. Once the Moon ingresses Libra at night it’ll be easier, at least for the time being, to smooth over any waves that might have churned up the inner state. Over night the Libra Moon will contact the Saturn-Pluto square in addition to Ceres’ square to Uranus that will reverberate throughout the day of March 2nd. Thus, individual truths will resurge and spread opinions and beliefs. As with every square, the challenge is to resolve the problem within ourselves first. So, the question for us is if we can step back from the issue for a moment to let the sum of our impressions resound through us, thereby creating some distance between us and everything that surrounds and affects us until we find a vibe of resonance. Then, we won’t feel the amount of turmoil and our response won’t cause as much upset as can be expected in such a situation. Mercury quincunx Saturn Rx urges toward restraint; toward some kind of compromise to keep the peace and to avoid the frustrations. Remind yourself that even if the conditions are less than ideal, it is still your own doing how you feel about it and process the meaning of the experience. You may want to spend some time contemplating the situation in its entirety and your position or role in it. Understanding, in one form or another, can ensue the next day, March 3rd, when Vesta Rx trines Ceres (+ quincunxes Uranus) and Venus meets Uranus in conjunction (+ quincunxes Vesta Rx). Honoring what is sacred to us and also realizing that our individual differences don’t have to estrange us will feel liberating, nourish us on a soul level and is freeing us to dedicate our energies to our own cause(s) as well. Therefore, adjusting our attitude permits us to regroup and refocus. After the Moon’s Scorpio ingress later in the night old resentments can be transformed and spirits regenerated if we’re willing to confront our demons, especially when the Moon will oppose Juno and sextile Pluto. Mercury will follow up with sextiles to the Juno-Pluto trine on March 4th to give us a chance to persevere on made of ground so that we can pick up where we left off and have gained an advantage at the same time in order to be able to complete this joined venture and to remove any remaining obstacles in our way, prior to his semi-square to Eris that stresses mindfulness in this context. Be self-conscious in the sense of observing what comes out of your mouth as well as of your body language and the signals you send out. As Venus squares Ceres and semi-sextiles Neptune, our challenge is to find a way other than blame or righteousness that relieves us from uncertainty, from feeling lost within less desirable circumstances and overwhelmed by increasing demands on us. If we can let go of our expectations or attachment to a certain outcome, we save ourselves hints of negativity or disappointment and other emotional pain. Be careful touching upon sensitive issues or other wound spots when Venus moves into a semi-sextile to Chiron on March 5th. Although you may feel divided and may not as yet know how to approach this matter, you can bridge the difficulties with the necessary understanding and empathy and then commit yourself to the task with the whole of your being, giving shape to what you envisioned as your goal. Sun sesqui-quadrate Mars Rx is pushing our creative intent, summoning our will to perform our work regardless of the circumstances. After the Moon’s Sagittarius ingress in the early morning hours of March 6th optimism returns and so does our enterprising spirit. Ceres sextile Neptune allows us to respond to the stimulus and to run with this inspiring energy, enabling us to make the best use of our imagination as long as we’re so nicely attuned to whatever it is that caught our fancy or is the project of our interest. Venus’ Aries ingress on March 7th, preceding the Third Quarter Moon, stirs up our passions and dares our emotional nature to go after what we want, beginning a period of potent sensuality. This ”crisis in consciousness”, associated to the waning Sagittarius Moon’s square to the Pisces Sun, presses for an end to all delays, for everything that has been put on hold or the backburner, now that it looks as though there’s a silver lining on the horizon. However, to move things forward we need to determine a course of action, a direction we want to follow and that’s also the right path for us. Self-renewal is imminent. Motivation and responsiveness are strong, while confidence is driving the act. A fire trine between Venus and Mars encourages and enlivens; reaffirming our wish to prove ourselves and to convince others of our worth. Longings and dreams we’ve held in this regard beg to be released when Mercury meets Jupiter in conjunction in the universal waters of Pisces. With every seed moment new potentialities and possibilities emerge, permitting us to close one chapter and to start another one. In this case, the objective is to incorporate the ideals we aspire towards and principles we believe in into our living day reality and as a guideline that underlies our interrelations.

Mercury sesqui-quadrate Saturn on February 22nd calls for an unbreakable will in view of obstacles that could become a strain on our nerves and a test in resilience. Withstanding the temptation to protest and the raising of our temper or other excitements becomes easier once Juno ingresses Taurus in the first hour of February 23rd. Then, and with our feelings hopefully composed, we can relate from a place of calm and quietude and our interactions will take on a flair of ‘touchy-feeliness’ – however, it could be for better or worse – depending on the individual case, which is even more stressed and also likely to keep us at bay when Venus semi-squares Juno, but could on the other hand make us overly sentimental, whimsical or pitiful. In this extremely dynamic and demanding situation, indicated by the Sun’s sextile to Pluto, there’s simply no way to go on with business as usual. Instead, follow the flow and drift gently. After the Moon’s Cancer ingress we may feel more ‘at home’ within the circumstances, even supported in some way or that things have been taken care of; at least for now. As Mercury triggers the Pallas-Eris quincunx on February 24th with a square and a sextile, respectively, together with the Sun’s semi-square to Eris, the challenge is to remain true to our character, to who we are as individuals, while at the same time aware, deeply receptive of and attuned to our environment in order to cultivate trust and to share – the good and the bad – so that we can recharge together and then focus on our strengths to make it safely and sanely through the day. Venus sesqui-quadrate Mars Rx emphasizes our approach in this context and how the expression of our personal feelings can affect our interactions and have an impact on our surroundings. With Mars Rx square Juno on February 25th the nature of our intentions determines the fruitfulness of our relations as well as what sort of fruits they will bear. Too much insistence on having things done the way we personally prefer and thus too much stubbornness on our part could get in the way of the pursuits we’ve sustained so steadily and persistently these last few weeks or months. Stay centered within yourself and take heart, especially in interpersonal situations, where our individual tastes could require some adjustment. The Moon’s Leo ingress bestows confidence and self-assurance, allowing us to be generous with our feelings without having to overdramatize or letting our ego rule the day. Mercury moves on to cast a sextile to Ceres and a semi-sextile to Uranus on February 26th to enhance our conscious understanding of what is taking place around us as well as within ourselves and all the implications these developments entail and contribute to our realization of the specifics or specialness of our circumstances by enriching our awareness and giving us a chance to be more objective and less instinctive-emotional in order to open our mind to change and also to be able to respond differently. As a consequence and an outcome of this process, we may feel enlightened, even reformed in some way, when Mercury joins the Chiron-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius, opposed by Vesta Rx, on February 27th. If we can surrender our expectations and don’t give in to fears or insecurities, we may see the possibilities, recognize new potential and also realize different opportunities for our self-expression. Acceptance of the things we cannot change can result in release and relief. Embrace a more upbeat approach in the spirit of the ‘game’ and try to remain positive. Certain experiences are painful at first, in particular if the ego is involved or we had a different ideal in mind. Focus only on what’s essential and relevant and don’t allow yourself to be distracted or even disillusioned when things go ‘wrong’. The inclination toward criticism – whether of ourselves or of others – is strong after the Moon’s Virgo ingress. In the lead-up to the Virgo Full Moon on February 28th we’re asked to make this important distinction concerning our judgment of a situation, while attempting to resolve the inner conflict as we deal with the emotional repercussions. Jupiter is conjunct the Sun and thus opposite the Moon, laying emphasis on the big picture, on a broadening of our viewpoint, a widening of perspectives and a holistic outlook in general.

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 09:58 Virgo states:

“Two heads looking out and beyond the shadows. Keynote: The growth of true understanding, born out of the transcendence of duality even while immersed in the world of duality – the Self-transcending activity of the mind.”

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 09:58 Pisces states:

“An aviator pursues his journey, flying through ground-obscuring clouds. Keynote: Men’s ability to develop powers and skills which by transcending natural limitations allow him to operate in mental-spiritual realms – Mastery.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolic Phases”, Pages 156-157 and 274, respectively)

Find solace and faith in the one truth and greater reality or purpose that unites you with your environ as well as the people within it. Keep in mind that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. Make universalism to your mantra. The truth has as many faces as there are people. Venus semi-sextile Eris and Juno quincunx Saturn Rx hint at adjustments in form of selflessness, such as minor sacrifices and small efforts from our side, which permit us to adopt a higher set of values as the basis for our principle of relating. Yield to reason and you will rise above any conflicts or difficulties.

Capricorn lunation review

The Capricorn New Moon 2010 was also a Solar Eclipse, whose message will be reverberating through the succeeding lunar months and then flow into the seed-tone of the next eclipse. “A nature spirit dancing in the iridescent mist of a waterfall – the ability to perceive the hidden and creative spirit of natural phenomena” is the message revealed by the Sabian Symbol pertaining to the highlighted zodiacal degree, which was the degree Chiron was transiting when the Asian tsunami struck in 2004. This time, the natural phenomena that awoke the human spirit was the powerful earthquake in Haiti. As it was the case in the aftermath of the tsunami, others came to the rescue and assistance of those affected by the catastrophe; humanity’s focus has been directed to an area of extreme impoverishment that was in dire need of humanitarian efforts. So, nature showed the way.

For me, the New Moon fell into my 5th house to raise my creative spirit. I began to draw a daily tarot card and included the message I received this way into my blogs. Meanwhile, I had extended my personal network and requested personal information from a few of my closer contacts. Ideas, regarding my creativity, began to form in my mind, inspiring me to work harder and also to accomplish more with the ultimate goal to turn this ‘hobby’ into a vocation. My daughter and my girlfriend revealed a need for counseling, which strengthened my conviction to immerse myself deeper into my astro studies to be able to provide advice. For J, the eclipse activated his 2nd house – relating to what he owns and owes. All these themes will be relevant and require our attention and effort for the duration of the eclipse energy.

On the eve preceding the eclipse made Adrian a ‘first inspection’ of our home in regard to the renovations we had planned some time ago already. Another structural ‘fix’ has been the dental work I’ve been undergoing in slow, weekly steps and in the same sense as this ‘project’ proceeded, starting with a costly emergency that led to follow-up appointments and covering the ‘whole nine yards’ of dentistry – x-rays, surface and deep cleaning, examinations etc. – did the renovation project follow the ‘established’ pattern and even turn into our very own catastrophe. Saturn, the ruler over this New Moon, had just assumed retrograde motion in addition to Mars, the indicator of action, being Rx. So, time, and for this matter patience as well as other forms of mental discipline, would constitute an important factor in this equation. Indeed, a timeline was set at GAI, where Adrian and J work and this meant for Adrian in his function as project leader an increased workload plus additional hours at work, which made it impossible for him to actually start with the renovations – similar to me having to go through examinations before they even began with the dental work. The “crisis in action”, associated with the First Quarter Moon, had the waxing Taurus Moon square the Aquarius Sun (from house 9 to 5 for me and from house 5 to 2 for J) and thus routine or repetitiveness preventing progress for certain special projects from happening. While J’s “hobby” seemed to sustain itself, I experienced a steadily increasing frustration on all levels – physical, emotional and mental.  At the time of the Leo Full Moon then (in my 12th) I questioned my chances of progress in my personal and social life. I was filled with doubt, but the feedback I got from my network felt reassuring, while J also assured me that it wouldn’t take long for Adrian anymore to commit himself to the renovation project.

In fact, as the waning Scorpio Moon squared the Aquarian Sun (from house 3 conjunct my natal Neptune to house 6) at the time of the Third Quarter Moon, the imminent changes were irrevocable. While we were at the dentist’s Adrian began his reconstructing work on our house in sync with Juno’s conjunction to Eris and square to the nodal axis. Neptune rules the 7th and 8th house in my chart. So, I had a new dental insurance and no idea what was actually covered. All I knew for sure and had to accept was that it would be costly. The same holds true for the home renovation. An entire wall was torn down, another one opened from bottom to top and the stairs completely removed. Now our house looked like hit by an earthquake. Everything I had planned to accomplish prior to my departure had become invalid or canceled (Neptune). Dust and dirt had taken over the house (Aquarius) and our fears exacerbated in regard to from where to get the funds we will need for this renovation (Scorpio). Needless to say that a few of the revelations coming my way during the unfolding of this lunation – whether from my girlfriend, my daughter, dwindling numbers, spiraling costs – were harsh realities that had quite a shocking effect. This “crisis in consciousness” truly forced me to address mental patterns I have developed over the years. They’re in for an overhaul. For the remaining days of the lunation I’ve been far away from ‘home’ to support my mother-in-law. The change of surroundings didn’t only physically remove me from the devastating scenery; it also allowed me to pursue my creative intentions, though not without constant interruptions.

Mercury moves into the aspect configuration between Ceres, Jupiter and Eris on February 14th, bringing a fresh mental outlook to the table to sustain the authenticity quest in a competitive world. His semi-square to Ceres places emphasis on our interconnectivity, on renewing and expanding contacts to get our message out and with Ceres trine Eris the focus is on our special interests or on what makes us special and distinguishes us from the crowd in this context; especially with Jupiter casting tense octiles to the Ceres-Eris trine and receiving a semi-sextile from Mercury we may want to check out the scene as well as explore our options or what we could contribute, based on our knowledge, skills or ‘expertise’. However, the Moon’s Pisces ingress could cause us some confusion, uncertainty or lack of clarity and when she will be joining Venus in Pisces at the apex of a yod, also involving Saturn Rx and Mars Rx, the result could be feelings of ambivalence that have us vacillating, regarding whether to pursue the matter more vigorously or to stand back and watch and then to synthesize the feeling impressions. Or, we could be so overwhelmed and/or nervous that we’re unsure how to react or respond and thus could miss out on an opportunity. Therefore, the Sun blending energies with the Chiron-Neptune conjunction creates an atmosphere of resonance, where our instincts could tell us how to proceed if we sit still, meditate if necessary and listen to our inner voice.

The next day, February 15th, offers us a chance then to take up the established ‘thread’ and weave it into a piece of art by letting the interchanges and common activities work for us and position ourselves comfortably within the setting so that we can link to people of like mind and form alliances in sync with the aspect perfection of the Mars-Saturn sextile that happens together with another sextile between Venus and Pluto and is furthermore a possibility of empowerment. Late in the night Vesta egresses into Leo. For now, the training phase is over; our performance becomes all-important. Juno’s sextile to the Chiron-Neptune conjunction on February 16th is followed by Venus’ semi-square to Eris and subsequent conjunction to Jupiter. Everything we’ve initiated over the last couple of days could now come in handy to provide the stimuli needed to spur our imagination and consequently inspire a more original approach that brings forth a side of us that reveals our true nature.  Standing on the verge of our own ‘greatness’ we may get a glimpse of the future as well as what this might entail for us. After the Moon’s Aries ingress prior to the perfection of the Chiron-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius on February 17th we may feel a strong desire to birth this vision, this conceived ideal and dream of ours or picture we have of ourselves, into the world. Mercury semi-square Uranus stresses mental independence and thus also to think in terms of differentiation with the pursuit of individual projects preoccupying our mind. The Sun’s opposition to Vesta precedes his ingress into Pisces on February 18th to make us aware of where to direct our focus and energies as well as conscious of our life’s purpose as we enter this phase of release and ego submerging to become part of something greater.

Pallas quincunx Eris on February 19th calls for a strategic adjustment that enables us to influence our state of affairs from a subconscious level, because we can now access a deeper layer of our psyche if we respond from a place of wholeness. With the Moon’s Taurus ingress emotions quiet and soften, while we strive for feeling contentment. The Sun-Mars quincunx on February 20th demands a further adjustment for the preservation of our will that’s accompanied by a Vesta-Juno trine that allows us to succeed in keeping our commitments or promises in this context. On February 21st will the Moon ingress Gemini and then reach the First Quarter Phase of the lunation, casting a waxing square to the Pisces Sun, the latter also engaged in a quincunx to Saturn. Although it’s easier now to be flexible and to adapt to changing conditions, the crisis in action we’re undergoing at this time might arise when overcome by mental stress due to having to deal with unfinished business in form of a recurring problem or unresolved issue. Don’t get deterred, but carry on with awareness of your surroundings and be fair to all parties concerned.

February 13th, 2010 – Aquarius New Moon

Preceding the New Moon in Aquarius, Mercury, coming out of a trine to Saturn, participates in the Mars-Pluto quincunx with an opposition and a semi-sextile, respectively, implying that we may feel compelled to act on an inspiration, based on a decision we made and which may relate to a series of events we initiated a while ago. Over the course of these developments, our perception of reality has perhaps changed a few times due to lessons we learnt along the way and therefore we would be well advised to rely on these accumulated experiences from our recent history in the process of building something new for ourselves while restructuring our life. A creative conception triangle formed between the Sun, Juno and Uranus enhances our visualizing potential, allowing new possibilities and perspectives to emerge, thereby stimulating both new beginnings and completions of the past with the distinction to do things differently from now on as the Aquarian New Moon insists on proceeding with all the ‘advancements’ we have to our disposal and let them work for us so that the seed planted at this occasion may carry us into the future we wish to create for ourselves.

The Sabian Symbol, pertaining to the zodiacal degree highlighted by the New Moon in Aquarius states:

“A garage man testing a car’s battery with a hydrometer. Keynote: Skill in applying knowledge of natural laws to the solution of everyday problems resulting from life in our technological society – mental efficiency.” (Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolic Phases”, Page 265)

This puts the focus on our ‘safety’, bringing up the question if we are ready for the ‘ride’, as things obviously are going to speed up. Moreover, we have to ask ourselves if we are strong enough to withstand the ‘battering elements’, which may shake us up from within and without. New horizons beckon, a new beginning is inevitable and it may happen rather sooner than later. Although we may still feel the past’s pull on us and follow the same trot mostly, even seemingly moving backwards, our position has been changing, if only in small steps, leaving it up to us how we utilize the hard-won power and play our cards in this game. Realizing that we need to end all attachments and discard the past entirely, we have to draw from our resourcefulness and let us guide by an intuitive grasp of what’s tentatively taking shape. Thus, the slightest detail can make a difference in the grander scheme of things and this awareness can inform our determination to influence certain conditions to our advantage or liking. Concentrate only on what lies ahead and what’s relevant now as well as a plain necessity to get you there.

The alternating home reality

Let’s see if I can recall the events of the last few days somehow. The Moon was in Sagittarius on Sunday morning, well into my 4th house and transiting natal Mercury, as we were leaving for Alliston. The Aquarian Sun was quite busy on this day too (in my 6th house) – her sextile to Ceres in Sagittarius brought more obligations toward the maternal up as I was going to support my mother-in-law and helping her with her household and her responsibilities, while leaving my own household and pet behind (Sun square Pallas, Mercury in Capricorn semi-sextile Neptune in Aquarius). However, to be honest, this is a mutually supportive situation, in which we all hope to make progress – one way or another – thus, cooperation is a requirement (Sun sesqui Saturn Rx in Libra). With Venus approaching the Chiron-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius it was moreover a time of reconnecting and recollecting of past memories, whereby we touched upon sensitive themes and affairs of the heart – all of which are currently in a state of transition. On Monday, I turned the computer on again after a good night of sleep that allowed me to recover from the ‘ordeals’ of the last few days. At first, however, the different noises in my surroundings caused me headaches while I was trying to concentrate. I gave up in the afternoon and walked the dog instead. Then I looked at the condo listing for this area. Only at night was I able to focus on astro stuff. It was a bit easier the next day – I even felt accomplished after I delivered a first draft of a text in time (Sun sextile Eris-the Self on the way to individuation). For today was the cataract surgery scheduled (Mercury ingressed Aquarius) and with Mars Rx quincunx Jupiter we spent hours in the hospital, waiting until noon for the surgeon to get started. Meanwhile, we got snow again, the roads are slippery, walking is difficult, the temperatures dropped and its more comfy inside.

The octile dialogue among the planets continues on February 8th, with the Sun square Pallas and both participating in the Saturn-Pluto square. Circumstances now have conspired to a point, where it becomes ever more challenging to proceed systematically or organize our time effectively as we’re trying to juggle our responsibilities. While we are aware of the necessity for results, for something to show – even if it is only a work in progress – several factors outside our control have a way to divert our focus. And although we’re committed to our project or task, the dynamic aspects from Ceres to the Sun-Pallas square are quite irresistible as they create variety and entertainment we find inviting, particularly so with Venus, Chiron and Neptune joined in conjunction, weakening our will and touching our heart. It feels relieving to loosen up; relaxing to drift off – let go and just be, taking a break from our obligations for a moment or two. Still, persevere we must. But we must also allow for the natural flow of things and not push too strongly. Surrender to the situation; take it one step at a time. If you plan wisely and with foresight, you may realize that everything is manageable.

After the Moon’s Capricorn ingress on February 9th, we are on more solid emotional ground and can tackle the problems in a realistic and practical way. There could be a few rumblings later in the day when she aligns with the Pluto-Saturn square that could see us navigating over rocky terrain, holding tight on to our self-control. Her sextile to Jupiter together with another sextile between the Sun and Eris adds an angle of understanding and facilitates mindfulness, which aids us in choosing the right words as well as the proper attitude when we react to our environment, especially as Mercury prepares to ingress Aquarius on February 10th to provide our mind with an edge, equip it with inventiveness and ingenuity and generally speed up the mental process – with the ultimate goal of elevating our consciousness. A Mars-Jupiter quincunx on the same day is an upgrade to the moral high ground and may require a sacrifice for the greater good.

Mercury quincunx Vesta demands a further adjustment between mind and soul on February 11th in response to an unexpected development in an evolving situation we may have to resolve from the emotional level rather than the mental one as the Pallas-Pluto semi-square is perfecting and preceding Venus’ ingress into Pisces. Sensitivities are heightened now and feeling impressions bring us closer together, uniting us with all that is. Mars sesqui-quadrate Ceres could move our heart, letting us take care of stressful circumstances from a place of compassion that arises from our innermost being, from being ‘at one’ with nature and our higher ideals. Extend support to those in need or those who are asking for your attention – there’s lots to be gained in return. Act wisely and invest your energies in causes that are worth your ‘sacrifices’. Emotions are charged after the Moon’s Aquarius ingress; charitable feelings are stirred up and flashes of insight could reveal the path we need to follow.

Thus, the Venus-Vesta opposition on the next day, February 12th, emphasizes clarity, especially what our ideals of relating concerns, which could be achieved through reflection and connecting with our source. Awareness of our doing, of the signals we send, the impression we leave and the love or goodwill we give out is affecting the success of our interchanges and informs others’ perceptions of us. Mercury trine Saturn together with Mars quincunx Pluto instruct us to exert some mental effort and to manage our conduct with integrity. What motivates us and propels us forward determines also the outcome of our endeavors. The more perspective we gain in this regard, the better can we take advantage of the opportunities presented to us and influence the situation for our gain – experience-wise and in wisdom. Jupiter semi-square Eris shows that understanding of the implications and factors involved is critical if we want to strengthen our position and react from a place of authenticity.
