Astro-Notes on October 31, 2010 – Samhain

Today is Samhain, sometimes called November Eve, a Celtic holiday festival with ancient polytheistic roots and cross-quarter day that marks the final harvest. Samhain essentially denotes and means the end of summer and the beginning of the time of darkness and death, which is used to reflect back on the year that has just passed and to come to terms with our losses. For it was understood that in dark silence comes whisperings of new beginnings, the stirring of the seed below the ground. It is a magical interval when the mundane laws of time and space are temporarily suspended and the thin veil between the worlds is lifted. Communicating with ancestors and departed spirits is made possible through acceptance and invitation. It is a time to study the Dark Mysteries and honor the Dark Mother and the Dark Father, symbolized by the Crone (Hekate) and her aged Consort.

In traditional Halloween spirit can we enjoy ourselves and the customs and rituals associated with this festival in celebrations with others or simply having fun with the Moon traversing Leo until 11:51 pm EDT when she will ingress Virgo and we could be feeling that’s time to withdraw.

Tarot card of the day is the ”Queen of Cups”, representing a welling up of deep feelings, which are bottomless and may have been hidden or unacknowledged for some time or simply be an overflow of sentimentality. This card indicates the feminine principle working in a loving and nurturing environment through empathy, caring, nurturing and unconditional love when we respond with our hearts, not our heads. The interaction of imagination and action to create a balance within relationships is represented.

Astro-Notes on October 30, 2010 – there’s something to be saved

A semi-sextile between Juno in Virgo and Saturn in Libra together with a sextile from Venus Rx in Scorpio to the North Node in Capricorn call for an adjustment in regard to the relationship dynamics we adhere to after a critical evaluation of their functionality and how this affects our future prospects, which offers us a chance to overhaul our approach. As the waning Leo Moon squares the Scorpio Sun at the time of the Third Quarter Moon at 08:45 am EDT, instigating a crisis in consciousness, the challenge is to step out of the shadow and shine our light, thereby coming to terms with powerful psychic complexes that keep us wrangling with ourselves. With Vesta in Scorpio in a tense sesqui-quadrate aspect to Uranus Rx in Pisces we need to focus on advancing our cause through whole-hearted commitment to our individual path.

Tarot card of the day is the “5 of Cups”, suggesting non-attainment of expected results and pessimism about the future, which requires a readjustment. Recommended is to explore the emotional depths and transform the negativity, because there’s always something to be saved from a situation.

Personal Note: I shortly stopped by “The Currant” yesterday afternoon. It’s always good to see Angie and chat with her for a while. Her life is so busy, filled with many obligations and events. The phone was ringing several times and the requests required from her to make the necessary arrangements for dinner and a party later in the evening. This reminded me that it was actually Friday evening, while I got ready to walk back to my empty home.

Astro-Notes on October 29, 2010 – moving on

A semi-sextile from Vesta in Scorpio to Saturn in Libra represents first stirrings of our passions we likely experience in regard to our devotion toward restoring a position of authority in our relationships. The Sun in Scorpio’s sextile to Ceres in Capricorn provides us with a chance to work toward our goal of Self-realization through the establishing of stronger structures in our life. With the Moon traversing Cancer until 08:38 pm EDT when she will ingress Leo, the atmosphere will have a nurturing, supportive vibe that allows us to take care of things. Once in Leo, we can become more creative and playful.

Tarot card of the day is the “8 of Cups”, suggesting that it’s time to move on, to evolve and progress further and concentrate on what’s truly important. With properly aligned focus we can tackle any problem on our path as long as we are aware of our inner and outer landscapes. We are given the opportunity to make a conscious attempt to rise above our habitual or instinctive response patterns by separating from the past.

Personal Note: We’ve got news yesterday that a friend of J’s has been in a car accident on Monday night when Mercury and Venus Rx had met in conjunction in Scorpio. He was taken of life support and passed on yesterday as the Sun-Venus Rx conjunction was perfecting – at the very end of the closing Sun-Venus cycle. This was all very sad and shocking (Saturn in Libra sesqui-quadrate Chiron Rx in Aquarius) as it happened so unexpectedly to someone who was so full of life and had a bright future. Nobody of our contacts really knows what happened, except that he crashed on a tree in a single car accident late in the night. With Venus Rx in sesqui-quadrate to Jupiter Rx in Pisces that day it could’ve been a misjudgment on his part. By looking at the tarot cards I drew for these last few days, I can see how his life has been hanging in ‘limbo’, after the ‘moral choice’ presented by the card of the lovers. I just hope that his spirit could make the transition into the light as his consciousness was ‘floating’ between the worlds. Rest in peace Mike!

Astro-Notes on October 28, 2010 – deliberation

Mars’s ingress into Sagittarius at 02:47 am EDT, where he will be traveling until December 8, starts a period of increased, purposeful activity, when we’ll be driven by an urge to expand and explore and motivated by our faith and convictions. The sesqui-quadrates between Mercury in Scorpio and Uranus Rx in Pisces and between Saturn in Libra and Chiron Rx in Aquarius require from us insightful, reflective thinking to be able to assess a complex situation from a revised angle in order to deal with a recurring problem, where we experience a stark conflict of interests, in a way that allows us to bridge our differences through coming to an acceptable solution. As Venus Rx in Scorpio sextiles Ceres in Capricorn and then meets the Sun in inferior conjunction, we have a chance to work out constructive responses derived from an evolved approach at the beginning of a new cycle when a new quality of will and purpose will be impressed upon our value system that has transformative and empowering potential.

Tarot card of the day is the “2 of Swords” (again), suggesting a truce or holding position. The equilibrium is only temporary. There is a sense of stalemate or impasse, something is unsettled and the underlying message of the card implies tension. While seeking direction, we must be impartial and make a deliberate and conscious effort to get to higher ground in order to get a perspective and move above the situation.

Personal Note: Due to a recurring dental problem I had to book an appointment with my dentist yesterday, which has become an expensive issue, especially since he keeps charging an emergency fee I won’t get reimbursed for by the assurance in addition to the actual service fee.  To make matters worse, no satisfactory solution has been provided to me (very much a stalemate, a situation hanging in suspense). On the contrary, much to my dismay, I learnt yesterday that the situation is more complicated and that therefore the procedure I underwent was just a temporary fix. The ensuing disappointment caused me to deliberate my options, which inspired me to take a formal approach that is demonstrative of a mature, authoritative handling of this affair and at the same time a test of my personal power. Saturn in Libra’s sesqui-quadrates to Neptune Rx and Chiron Rx in Aquarius are strongly evident in this example as setting up the stage for the ‘play’ of the other ‘actors’, which happened for me from house 2 (finances, values, cosmetic procedure) to house 6 (health, service).

Astro-Notes on October 27, 2010 – surrender to the flow

Saturn in Libra casts a sesqui-quadrate to Neptune Rx in Aquarius and receives a semi-sextile from Mercury in Scorpio. This necessitates awareness of formalities and specific conditions or terms, which define the rules of engagement in social interactions and exchanges, whereby we need to realize the intricacy as well as sensitivity of the issue in order to handle the situation from a point of maturity, respect and acceptance to be able to reach a mutual agreement. As the Sun in Scorpio forms a sextile to the North Node in Capricorn we have a chance to become masters of our destiny by expressing ourselves in productive ways that lead to positive results. After the Moon’s ingress into Cancer at 03:14 pm EDT the atmosphere is supportive towards this end.

Tarot card of the day is “The Hanged Man” with the message ‘Rest now and let everything find its own balance’. We know that to struggle now would serve no purpose. Therefore, we need to stop resisting or trying to control the situation. We might be hung up on our own distracting thoughts and complicate things unnecessarily. It’s time to let go and choose a passive attitude, an expression of complete calm and assurance. All expectations along with all actions have been suspended in a state of purposeful, complete surrender.

Astro-Notes on October 26, 2010 – a temporary truce

Venus Rx in Scorpio forms a semi-sextile to Pallas in Sagittarius, the Sun in Scorpio a sextile to Pluto in Capricorn and Mercury in Scorpio participates in the Juno-Vesta sextile via sextile and conjunction, respectively. After a re-evaluation of our personal power we may want to base our approach on a smarter strategy, viewed in long-term perspective, in order to be able to manage our affairs from a position of Self-reliance. Therefore, with the start of this new synodic cycle, we can take advantage of the opportunity to commit us to empowerment.

Tarot card of the day is the “2 of Swords”, suggesting a truce or holding position. The equilibrium is only temporary. There is a sense of stalemate or impasse, something is unsettled and the underlying message of the card implies tension. While seeking direction, we must be impartial and make a deliberate and conscious effort to get to higher ground in order to get a perspective and move above the situation.

Astro-Notes on October 25, 2010 – emotional flexibility

The Moon’s Gemini ingress at 07:47 am EDT shifts the atmosphere from sensuous and repetitive to lighthearted and flexible, thereby stimulating busyness and agility. Mercury’s conjunction to Venus Rx in Scorpio signifies a blending of heart and mind that allows for surrender to the transformational process through the transmutation of lower psychic compulsions made possible by the fleetingness of intense emotionality. Vesta in Scorpio’s sesqui-quadrate to Jupiter Rx in Pisces brings a crisis of purpose that demands dedication to soul work through deep reflection and the quieting of passions.

Tarot card of the day is “The Lovers” – for the second day in a row! Again, we’re presented with a tough moral choice that involves our higher ideals and requires from us to resolve inner conflicts first before we make up our mind. We have the ability to act out our highest values when dealing with significant and emotional situations if we let us be guided by our inner spiritual or higher Self.

Personal Note: In the same way as J tends to change his mind regularly does he change his diet every month or so (Mercury in Aquarius opposite Moon in Leo). Momentarily is he experimenting with his individual version of the Preuss diet, which means he’s making juice from assorted veggies and fruits every morning and then fills up the biowaste container. Originally, he of course said that he would take care of this and for one week it truly happened that he would go outside and empty the container and then rinse it out. However, this morning he came up with a few excuses, which naturally leaves this task to me to take care of. I wouldn’t mind if I could use the garden hose, which he says I should stay away from because I damage it and if I wouldn’t have to walk through the mud there. Anyway, he doesn’t care how I deal with this – as usual he’s shifting responsibility and ‘delegating’ tasks (he’s a manager after all!), which caused me upset, because I know that by moving it from mornings to evenings or to the next day he’s avoiding it altogether, hoping that I’ll do it eventually. However, I was able to let these negative feelings, which were rising up within me, pass, reminding myself that it is futile to get worked up by things I cannot change. I spent yesterday afternoon half an hour cleaning my old sneakers I had worn while raking the leaves in the backyard, because I had to walk through the muddy area by the hose. Well, I’ll have to be careful not to step in there again! I’ll also have to somehow put up a ladder in the living room to get to the skylight to spray it with the mold control spray since this was already too much to be asked of him yesterday night.
