A Total Lunar Eclipse occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth align in close proximity to the Moon’s Nodes and the Moon passes through the deeper shadow cast by the Earth, the umbra, where no direct light from the Sun can reach her. However, the Earth’s atmosphere refracts light, while at the same time filtering it, which illuminates the Moon with a series of varying red colors, depending on the prevailing conditions. Lunar Eclipses are felt internal and can trigger unconscious and psychic issues, which constitute our shadow material.
The Aries lunation cycle culminated in a Total Lunar Eclipse at 3:42 am EDT this morning. This Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse happened at the North Node of the Moon and is conjunct retrograde Ceres in Libra (Sun opposite Ceres), in sextile aspect to Pallas in Leo (Sun trine Pallas) and sesqui-quadrate Venus in Pisces (Sun semi-square Venus). Thus, an opening on the emotional and soul level has been created that allows us to restore equilibrium due to an ‘act of justice’ and rebalance from a relationship experience that could have been traumatic, disappointing or saddening and threatening our souls peace in many regards, stirring up our rawest emotions and laying bare hidden insecurities. There is a chance now that we can bounce back from this personal drama we underwent over these last few weeks and start over – one way or another. Together with the impulse that came forth with the Aries New Moon, the seeds planted at the time of the Libra New Moon back on October 4 of last year will be ‘harvested’ now or ‘seen in the light of meaning’. Thus, the ‘miners surfacing from a deep coal mine’ (Sabian Symbol for the Libra New Moon) are ‘in the possession of more gifts than they can hold’ (Sabian Symbol for the Aries Sun) and therefore, the ‘new symbolic forms for traditional images’ (Sabian Symbol for the Aries New Moon) are shown in ‘an eagle and a large white dove changing into each other’ (Sabian Symbol for the Libra Full Moon/Total Lunar Eclipse).
The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 25:15 Libra states:
“An eagle and a large white dove change into each other. Keynote: The interaction of the spiritual will and of the love principle when critical needs arise – ADEPTNESS.”
The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 25:15 Aries states:
“A man possessed of more gifts than he can hold. Keynote: Obsession by potentiality – a WARNING against undertaking more than it is as yet safe and sound to attempt.”

Implied by these symbolical pictures is that what has been brought to light from this journey to the ‘underworld’ (underground) is more than we can bear and therefore, a compromise of some sort must be reached, grown from the understanding that we don’t live in a perfect, ideal world, but in one that is defined by duality and polarity, constant change and stark contrasts and that often seems to be unfair and unjust. In fact, right and wrong are relative. We only encounter on the outside what lies unrecognized within us. The universe is impartial, yet maintains a dynamic equilibrium, in which cycles converge and overlap and everything is continually transforming. We are a part of this process – our lives are conditioned by cycles of becoming and we still have a lot of work to do in this regard – we are not as civilized as we want to believe. Our primal, animistic instincts are still very strong. Unless we smarten up, we will be ruled by our emotions, in particular by the buried ones. In order to evolve from this state of affairs and to be able to co-exist peacefully, we need to own our humanity and origins (roots) and support each other instead of judging others by their failure to adhere to the rules of engagement and live up to societal standards.
Tarot card of the day is the “8 of Wands”, representing a very focused kind of motion and activity, a time when we need to strike while the iron is hot. It encourages us to move quickly to pursue the best opportunities available right now – or in the sense of this eclipse and the TAO (the way leading through the dynamic interplay of the yin and yang) – MOVE ON.
