Astro-Notes on June 24, 2015

Daily aspects:
– Moon ingress to Libra at 1:40 am EDT
– First Quarter Moon at 2:38 Libra/Cancer at 7:02 am EDT
– Chiron stations retrograde at 21:33 Pisces at 7:36 am EDT (turns direct on Nov 28 at 16:56 Pisces)
– Mars ingress to Cancer at 9:32 am EDT (until Aug 8)
– Vesta conjunct SN in Aries/opposite NN in Libra
– Venus in Leo trine Pallas Rx in Sagittarius

Since the Moon’s ingress to Libra early in the morning could we have felt more laid back and agreeable. However, with the First Quarter Moon forming a few hours later, our inner balance was most likely tipped off by something that ‘hit home’ and disturbed the harmony. Vesta’s conjunction with the South Node in Aries fuels our dedication and brings out the warrior in us together with habitual patterns of behavior. Therefore, the ‘crisis in action’ challenged us to regain our composure and side-step the issue. We need to be more diplomatic in order to be fair and keep the peace. Thus, ‘essentialization’ (keyword of the Sabian Symbol for the Gemini New Moon) is tested by uncompromising subjectivity. As Chiron stationed retrograde in Pisces and will retrace his steps through a territory he visited from mid April of last year until now, a period begins during which we will review the wounding and healing principle, especially in situations where we feel victimized or tend to sacrifice or are too unrealistic or unaware or unable to bridge the issue. So, an unresolved matter or recurring problem, which has been lingering around, could have ‘assisted’ with the pushing of our buttons. Moreover, now that Mars made ingress to Cancer, where he will traverse until August 8, are we more inclined to react, particularly in a subjective manner, and to be on the defensive or let our moods dictate our actions. At the same time will we seek to engage in nurturing and supporting activities, to take care of initiatives and to ‘feed’ our drive and will. In any case, at the end of the day will we feel more validated and good about ourselves, because we succeeded with our approach of an important matter.

Tarot card of the day is the Hanged Man”, demanding from us to let go and surrender to the experience, end the struggle, accept what is and hang in there for now. We are in an in-between state and also at a cross-roads, where decisions are postponed, even though there’s a sense of urgency to act. Therefore, we may simply just want to wait for better opportunities. There is a chance that we could see a situation from a new angle and consequently, overturn our priorities or upend the old order. This card also represents someone who has chosen the path of sacrifice and forsaken instant gratification in order to accomplish a higher goal.

Astro-Notes on June 21, 2015 – Summer Solstice

Daily aspects:
– Sun in Gemini quincunx Saturn Rx in Scorpio and ingress to Cancer at 12:37 pm EDT – Summer Solstice
– Moon ingress to Virgo at 12:58 pm EDT
– Mercury in Gemini trine Ceres Rx in Aquarius and semi-square Eris in Aries
– Venus in Leo quincunx Pluto Rx in Capricorn

Reaching its northernmost point from the equator, the Sun’s ingress to Cancer at 12:37 pm EDT yesterday marked the summer solstice and the beginning of summer. Consequently, here in the Northern Hemisphere, we experienced the longest day, whereas for the Southern Hemisphere it was the longest night and the start of winter. As the Sun seems to ‘stand still’ (sol sistere) high in the sky, we transition into ‘stasis’ and have a chance to pause, stop and take stock before fully committing ourselves to the new season. Individual development is at peak. There is liveliness and vibrancy as well as a re-gathering and refocusing of intent. A time of Self-nurturance and Self-growth, even Self-preservation, of sustaining our sense of Self, supporting and taking care of our center and core identity, is beginning now. As a quarter point in the wheel of the year, the summer solstice also brings a change in regard to the condition of the light, which will soon begin to wane. In the chart for this event (which reveals the ‘flavor’ of the new season), the Moon in the last degree of Leo (disposited by the Sun in the very first minutes of the sign Cancer – so, Moon and Sun are in mutual reception for this short moment of about 20 minutes) is engaged in the waning semi-square between retrograde Saturn in Scorpio and retrograde Pluto in Capricorn (with both planets in mutual reception) by casting a square to the former and a sesqui-quadrate to the latter. This implies that we have a last chance to review the circumstances and conditions affecting the state of our affairs and how they have evolved, whereby it is critical – even urgent – to consider the results of powerful ambitions together with investments toward establishing influence. There will be consequences, challenging our sense of pride and entitlement. Therefore, Venus in Leo’s quincunx to retro Pluto in Capricorn calls for a value adjustment, because in the pursuit of our personal desires and preferences we have to content with conditions beyond our control and thus have to accept our limitations. Although the weather forecast had called for thunderstorms and rain, it was a beautiful, sunny day. No doubt summer has arrived here. It is not only noticeable in the warmth of the air, but also in the sweet scents, the songs of the birds and the dance of the butterflies. I went out for a walk that led through the Avondale Cemetery (such a serene place that fits the Saturn-Pluto theme well) down to the river, walking under the shade of majestic trees and occasionally glancing at very old grave stones from times long gone by – before I even existed. The high grass was still wet, but this didn’t deter me. However, the farther along I got the worse the trail became until it almost completely disappeared. After a while I had to realize that the trail was not kept in shape – in fact, the small path was muddied from the torrential rains we have experienced the last few weeks and also overgrown. The nature enthusiast I am, I continued anyways, hoping that I can make it all the way to the bridge. Well aware of the special moment in time and the aspects that had formed in the skies, the thought popped up in my mind that I found myself on an ‘obstacle course’ and with all the changes in this natural environment that had happened since I was last there I simply couldn’t win in spite of my best efforts (Merc in Gemini trine Ceres Rx in Aquarius and semi-square Eris in Aries). And since I also got bitten by the mosquitoes, I had to keep moving and couldn’t stop for taking the scenery in or taking pictures. Once the Moon had made ingress to Virgo, I had turned around and walked back through the woods to avoid the mosquitoes. Once I had returned to the downtown area, I considered sitting down on a bench by the river with some great food and listening to the music from the Blues and Rib Festival. However, the best spots were taken and the lines were long. I also didn’t see any familiar faces. So, I marched on and then sat out on my balcony, where I started reading a new book with the title “Cruel Intent” and thought how appropriate for the astro weather, while recovering from my ‘itches’.

Summer Solstice 2015

Tarot card of the day was the 5 of Pentacles”, which portrays a pilgrimage or a long journey taken as an act of faith or devotion. We can find the inner fortitude to persist in our quest and bolster ourselves, while resisting the temptation to succumb to ‘spiritual poverty’. It’s time to move on and to let us be guided by our soul’s ‘light’ or inner shining star. Moreover, in this context the card asks us to follow the high road during this process (detour) as we’re ‘recovering’ ground that has been transformed or is evolving. It’s a time of transitioning, after which we will feel renewed and empowered.

Astro-Notes on June 16, 2015 – Gemini New Moon

Daily aspects:
– Sun in Gemini semi-square Venus in Leo
– Venus in Leo quincunx Neptune Rx in Pisces
– Mars in Gemini sextile Juno in Leo
– Pallas Rx in Sagittarius trine Jupiter in Leo and trine Uranus in Aries
– Jupiter in Leo trine Uranus in Aries
– New Moon at 25:07 Gemini at 10:05 am EDT
– Moon ingress to Cancer at 6:50 pm EDT

Just a couple of days after the start of the new Sun-Mars cycle in Gemini do we experience a New Moon in this sign, whose ruler Mercury is traveling in direct motion again. Thus, for the next two years will we be intent on enacting personal plans for our social life and persona by initiating connections and communications, becoming engaged with our environment and close surroundings and adapting our life-style and activities toward this purpose. Things have begun to move forward and as long-term strategies, creative options and new trends come together, we have a chance to express our personal role if we take advantage of diverse opportunities for self-assertion. Therefore, it is critical that we validate and acknowledge our needs and desires and adjust our priorities accordingly in order to be able to fulfill those longings, dreams or ideals we’ve been imagining about since the last winter. This New Moon is in square aspect to the eclipse in March and as such represents a turning point. In the process of ‘Archetypalization, the power of clearly visualized ideals to mold the life of the visualizer’ (Sabian Symbol for the Pisces NM/Solar Eclipse), we are at the stage now where ‘our game’ is coming down to the essentials.

The Sabian Symbol for the New Moon at 25:07 Gem states:

“Frost-covered trees against winter skies. Keynote: The revelation of archetypal form and essential rhythm of existence – ESSENTIALIZATION.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 Symbolical Phases”, Page 106)

Gemini NM 2015

Tarot card of the day is the 10 of Cups”, suggesting that we’re calling a truce and restoring harmony where it is needed. We’re working for peace and reaffirming our commitment to bonds. Thus, we create an atmosphere where we can relax, while reducing stress and tensions, and consequently have a chance to experience serenity and contentment. Generally, we can be more at ease. This card is reflective of our personal value system and of what we believe will bring us the ultimate fulfillment and happiness in life.

Astro-Notes on June 9, 2015 – Third Quarter Moon

Daily aspects:
– Mars in Gemini sextile Uranus in Aries
– Juno in Leo semi-square NN in Libra/sesqui SN in Aries
– Third Quarter Moon at 18:29 Pisces/Gemini at 11:41 am EDT
– Pallas Rx in Sagittarius square Chiron in Pisces

The shifts we experienced over the last few days when Ceres turned retrograde in Aquarius and when Venus made ingress to Leo and Vesta to Aries and both of them engaged in a trine with retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius right away, have not only inspired us to turn inside and review the nurturing principle and how it operates in our life, especially in regard to our social purpose, circle and identity, but also to revisit our sense of structure together with the conditions, boundaries or limits we have developed over time. As a result, we learnt some important personal lessons related to tolerance and to our judgment of others lately, because the ego came into play and so did our self-love for which our inner flame is burning strong currently. In fact, it is firing us up, daring us and pushing us. Consequently, convinced by our righteousness or beliefs, dramas have been enacted, which resulted either in self-aggrandizement or in growing understanding. In any case, it is essential that we reach an agreement or else we have to cut ties to be able to move on from these situations. Therefore, the ‘crisis in consciousness’ that accompanies the Third Quarter Moon challenges us to become aware of our reality picture and perception of things, in particular what our expectations and projections concerns, and also of the thinking process that leads us to these assumptions and conclusions. We have a chance now to make progress if we are willing to look at both sides of an issue, because our approach or the politics and strategies we are using for this purpose can either harm or help, depending on how flexible and adaptable we are and if our intentions are well-meant. Thus, it’s either peace or war – the choice is ours (Sabian Symbol for the Taurus New Moon was: “An old Indian woman selling the artifacts of her tribe to passers-by. Keynote: Peaceful adaptation to collective needs – ADJUSTMENT.”).

Tarot card of the day is the 5 of Wands”, depicting a day of struggles, restlessness and also playfulness when a lot of ideas are floating around and we could encounter conflicts or quarrels – inside and outside. We might be bothered by trivialities as well as overwhelmed by the pressure and demands on us. It is important to not lose sight of the bigger picture and let these minor vexations deplete our energies. Therefore, we need to get a grasp on these fluctuating energies and whims and carefully assess our attitude, while opening us to the changes they bring into our life.

Astro-Notes on June 2, 2015 – Sagittarius Full Moon

Daily aspects:
– Mars in Gemini quincunx Pluto Rx in Capricorn
= Full Moon at 11:49 Sagittarius/Gemini at 12:18 pm EDT
– Pallas Rx in Sagittarius trine Eris in Aries

As promised at the onset of this lunation cycle, the adjustment we’re making is culminating in the Full Moon and so is the impulse seeded with the Sagittarius New Moon from November 22. Thus, we finally know what course of action to take in a situation, where we feel compelled to influence a specific set of circumstances we’ve been struggling with and have reviewed our approach in this matter, going back and forth over this issue. Consequently, we’re ready and determined to take action in our own best interest. “The old Indian woman, who is selling artifacts of her tribe to passers-by” (Sabian Symbol for the Taurus New Moon) has become “a negro girl, who is fighting for her independence in the city” (Sabian Symbol for the Gemini Sun) and the “retired army veterans” (Sabian Symbol for the Sagittarius New Moon on Nov. 22) have “turned the flag into an eagle” (Sabian Symbol for the Sagittarius Full Moon).

The Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon at 11:49 Sag states:

“A flag turns into an eagle, the eagle into a chanticleer saluting the dawn. Keynote: The spiritualization and promotion of great symbols of a New Age by minds sensitive to its precursory manifestations – ANNUNCIATION.”

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 11:49 Gem states:

“A negro girl fights for her independence in the city. Keynote: Liberation from the ghosts of the past – LIQUIDATION of the past.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 Symbolical Phases”, Pages 216-217 and 97, respectively)

Sagittarius FM 2015

Implied by these symbolical pictures is that we are ‘coming out’ with our truth in a rather convincing performance, because we are honest and authentic. We show our true nature.

Tarot card of the day is the 7 of Cups”, a card that represents a multiplicity of possibilities and choices, which need to be looked at for their potential – real or imagined – as well as for their basis in reality, whereby we need to be aware that not all that glisters is gold and that less enticing options might turn out to be great opportunities. Therefore, it’s important now to narrow our focus. A reality check is in order.

A great example in the news is Bruce Jenner’s transformation into Caitlyn Jenner. His new ‘Self’ is captured in stunning pictures in the magazine ‘Vanity Fair’.
