Astro-Notes on September 13, 2015 – Virgo New Moon/Partial Solar Eclipse

Daily aspects:
– Partial Solar Eclipse/New Moon at 20:10 Virgo at 2:41 am EDT
– Mars in Leo trine Eris Rx in Aries
– Moon ingress to Libra at 10:40 pm EDT

The last aspects the Virgo Sun made before heading into the new cycle was an opposition to retrograde Chiron in Pisces and a quincunx to retrograde Uranus in Aries, confronting us with a sore wound or unresolved problem, which has been a source of continuous worrying and overwhelm for us and required a personal adjustment that involved a review of our choices in this matter so that the necessary changes can be made. Mercury in Libra’s semi-square to Saturn in the last degree of Scorpio indicates a rather acute and pressing crisis that calls for fair decisions regarding our shared responsibilities and our ‘threatened’ sense of structure and control. For instance, at work we are receiving lots of extra merchandise for our anniversary sale next week and with that the first Christmas items are coming in as well, while we are preparing ourselves for inventory. Therefore, we got our work cut out for us. Especially for us department managers these final days before the ‘moment of truth or transparency’ will be even more stressful than usual. Pages upon pages filled with item numbers for merchandise we have to find and count have already been handed to us and a first meeting with the new store manager took place. So, the game is on, the player have moved into their positions and the ball is in our court. We have been ‘fired up’ for this contest. Now its up to each of us to perform our role and purpose to the best of our abilities and to contribute to the success of the team. Yesterday evening I got together with a friend of mine and stayed in her home overnight. We talked about our personal problems and ‘wounds’ and did a couple of readings, while enjoying some wine and snacks. Her personal situation has changed. So, hopefully, we’ll see more of each other in the future and will be able to spend some time together. This development is definitely something I have been longing and waiting for since I moved here.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon, the Earth and the Sun align with the Moon’s nodal axis and the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring Earth’s view of the Sun. During a partial Solar Eclipse the area of the Earth, which falls within the penumbra of the Moon, where the Sun is partly covered and its light dimmed to varying degrees, sees how the “Moon is taking a bite out of the Sun”. The phenomena of this transition is so palpable to our senses that it transcends the boundaries between the visible and invisible, and thus between the conscious and unconscious. Things that have been eclipsed in the area of our life, represented by the house in our natal chart, where the Eclipse has an impact, have now a chance to be brought into the light of conscious awareness, triggering individual and collective transitions, marked by endings and new beginnings. An Eclipse is a pattern-setting event with duration for up to half a year and longer. Eclipses belong furthermore to a larger pattern; each Eclipse is a member of a family and each family has specific characteristics.
The current Solar Eclipse is a member of the Saros Series 18 North, which means the Virgo New Moon/Solar Eclipse is conjunct the North Node of the Moon, a point of spiritual influx, which provides us with the courage to allow new energy in. This Saros Series was the last time around in September 1997 (look for the common theme). There is a Mercury-Pluto conjunction present and Uranus is on the midpoint of Mars/Saturn, for which Bernadette Brady gives the following interpretation:

“A high stress level accompanies the energy of this series and individuals will experience a taxing of their strengths. Events will occur that require the expenditure of effort; this can also manifest as illness or accident. The whole flavor of this eclipse is one of physical concern, as well as worry or obsessive thinking.”

(Bernadette Brady, “The Eagle and the Lark”, Appendices, Pages 333-334)

The Sabian Symbol for the Solar Eclipse/New Moon at 20:10 Virgo states:

“A girl’s basketball team. Keynote: Physical training as a means to inculcate the feeling of participation in a collective culture – GROUP INTEGRATION.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 Symbolical Phases”, Pages 163-164)

Partial SE-Virgo NM 2015

Tarot card of the day is the Page of Pentacles”, a card that encourages us to begin putting those plans and actions in place that will ultimately lead us toward the fulfillment of our goals and dreams. It is time to start acting on all those grand ideas and concepts that have been brewing in our imagination. No matter what’ll take, we need to see the project through and work on the realization of our vision.
