Astro-Notes for February 22, 2016 – Virgo Full Moon

Daily aspects:

– Moon ingress to Virgo at 6:24 am EST
– Venus in Aquarius sesqui NN in Virgo/semi-square SN in Pisces
– Full Moon at 3:33 Virgo/Pisces at 1:19 pm EST
– Vesta in Aries semi-square Neptune in Pisces
– Jupiter Rx in Virgo opposite Chiron in Pisces

Ceres will pass over Neptune in Pisces and Mercury over Pallas in Aquarius prior to the Virgo Full Moon. Their conjunctions blend the energies of these planetary bodies, while the old sub-cycle they are engaged in is ending and a new one is beginning, combining the nurturing principle with our ideals, dreams and longings in the sign of envisioning, encompassing and mending and our perception, plans and ideas with the strategies we employ in the sign of networking, inventing and reforming. This means that things are coming together what the support of certain as yet unfulfilled dreams concerns we have nurtured for a long time and that we are now meeting up with our social circle or for a social purpose and propose our next move or choice, filled with excitement, inspiration and hope for the future. However, it is critical that we realize we are together in this, which requires that we commit us to our higher ideals and values and opt for progress and improvement. Therefore, we have to make the right choices and select wisely from the options we have. As the Aquarius lunation cycle culminates in the Virgo Full Moon, the impulse that sounded forth at the time of the Virgo New Moon back in September 2015 also comes to fruition. Thus, “group integration” (keyword of the Sabian Symbol for the Virgo New Moon) is the result of ‘overcoming sociocultural prejudices’ (keynote of the Sabian Symbol for the Virgo Full Moon) so that a ‘brotherhood’ (keyword of the Sabian Symbol for the Virgo Full Moon) of all men can be formed. Then, ‘the message the large white dove is bearing’ (Sabian Symbol for the Aquarius New Moon) will lead to ‘heavy car traffic linking two seashore resorts’ (Sabian Symbol for the Pisces Sun). Consequently, ‘certification of individual worth and victory’ (keyword for the Aquarius New Moon) can be achieved through ‘the mobility and intensity of interchanges, which make possible and characterize complex social processes’ (keynote of the Sabian Symbol for the Pisces Sun).

The Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon at 3:33 Virgo states:
“Black and white children play together happily. Keynote: The overcoming of sociocultural prejudices – BROTHERHOOD.”

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 3:33 Pisces states:
“Heavy car traffic on a narrow isthmus linking two seashore resorts. Keynote: The mobility and intensity of interchanges, which make possible and characterize complex social processes – TRAFFIC.”

Virgo FM 2016

Another opposition in this sign duality between retrograde Jupiter in Virgo and Chiron in Pisces sets up the stage for this ‘illuminating Full Moon spectacle’ by emphasizing a major conflict we have to face in this regard, which is confronting us with a problem or issue that keeps bugging us and for which we seem to have no solutions. The suggestion here is to review the possibilities and opportunities we could utilize or work with and then to scrutinize our beliefs and convictions and see how all of this fits together or not in order to be able to bridge that gap that prevents us from fulfilling our mission or calling. To understand why we keep failing with certain quests awareness of our shortcomings and especially of the moments when we shoot ourselves in the foot and undo our best efforts is essential and so is finding our place in the human family and within the larger community. Therefore, to begin with, instead of singling ourselves out, we need to blend in; instead of judging, criticizing or discriminating, we need to sympathize, help and heal, in particular ourselves. Once the inner work is done, the outer flow will happen.

I’m posting this early, because my daughter and I will fly to the Dominican on Monday for a short vacation we’ve booked at the time of the Cancer Full Moon. It’s a dream coming true for us; something, we’ve been talking about for a few years and now that her 30th birthday has passed, we had to make it happen. No excuses anymore. We’re so looking forward to this. Even the symbols take on a very personal meaning for us.

Astro-Notes on February 15, 2016 – First Quarter Moon

Daily aspects:
– First Quarter Moon at 26:03 Taurus/Aquarius at 2:46 am EST
– Moon ingress to Gemini at 9:34 am EST
– Mars in Scorpio sextile NN in Virgo/trine SN in Pisces and quincunx Eris in Aries
– Ceres in Pisces semi-square Eris in Aries

For the last couple of days have we been under the influence of a Yod, or Finger of God (a planetary configuration), formed by Mars in Scorpio in sextile to retro Jupiter in Virgo with both casting quincunxes to Vesta in Aries at the apex. This provided us with an opportunity to change course in the way we react to causes, which are sacred to us personally and where we need to let go off anger and other subconscious triggers that have a hold over us. Instead, we need to start dedicating our energy toward healthier options and work on problem resolution and self-improvement and deep down we know that. However, when the psyche (Scorpio) is involved, this usually entails some kind of inner struggle, during which we have to face our shadow and slay the dragon. BUT, Mercury made ingress to Aquarius late last Saturday, the sign he first entered on New Year’s Day prior to his retrograde into Capricorn, which initiated a period when progress on the mental level and in all matters of thinking, communicating, associating and connecting can be made. Plus, Mars is now moving into a sextile to the North Node in Virgo (trine South Node in Pisces) and a quincunx to Eris in Aries and this is happening at the time of the First Quarter Moon, a point in the lunation cycle when we’re undergoing a ‘crisis in action’. Thus, we have a chance to leave past patterns of self-undoing, of giving in to defeat, of being easily overwhelmed and reacting like a victim behind if we choose so and dig ourselves out of this rut or hole we’re stuck in. It requires some effort on our part though as well as commitment to make our future brighter and better. In this regard it is important that we understand that this is in our own best interest and that we’re in fact saving ourselves from ourselves. All it takes is a revision of our attitude and some self-reflection. This allows us to be mindful and truly present and also to end our suffering or unnecessary struggles and fights we keep picking that could have been avoided. So, let’s focus on winning.

Tarot card of the day is the “5 of Wands”, depicting a day of struggles, restlessness and also playfulness when a lot of ideas are floating around and we could encounter conflicts or quarrels – inside and outside. We might be bothered by trivialities as well as overwhelmed by the pressure and demands on us. It is important to not lose sight of the bigger picture and let these minor vexations deplete our energies. Therefore, we need to get a grasp on these fluctuating energies and whims and carefully assess our attitude, while opening us to the changes they bring into our life.

Astro-Notes on February 8, 2016 – Aquarius New Moon

Daily aspects:
– Venus in Capricorn semi-square Ceres in Pisces and sextile Chiron in Pisces
– Sun in Aquarius semi-sextile Chiron in Pisces
– Mercury in Capricorn semi-square Neptune in Pisces
– Mars in Scorpio quincunx Vesta in Aries and trine Chiron in Pisces
– New Moon at 19:15 Aquarius at 9:38 am EST

The Vesta-Uranus conjunction in Aries a few days ago inspired us anew and mobilized us from within by way of ‘inspiriting’, which means our drive has been revived, our inner flame has been rekindled and we awoke from winter’s sleep. Since then we’ve been ready to turn a corner and get things moving. Thus, step by step we’ve been carrying out our intentions and yesterday we were ready to charge ahead, full of steam, but had to overcome a few obstacles first – whether in form of interruptions or ‘attacks’ – verbal or physical – we had to deal with in encounters with others. Many were making preparations for the Superbowl and had to run some last minute errands as things were heating up. In any case, the spirit of competition was high, providing lots of occasions for ‘warring’, fighting, arguing, erring, impulsiveness and inconsideration (the Chinese year of the Fire Monkey begins with this New Moon). We took our chances though and tried to work it all out, even if that meant we had to adjust our priorities and make some personal sacrifices together with time on our agenda to get on the same page, make things happen and keep the peace, which was not an easy feat at all, mind you. Consequently, we might feel a bit down and also pretty much on our own as well as unsupported and unappreciated, misunderstood, defeated and disappointed. But we can always start over; we just have to pull ourselves together and focus on the realization of our dreams and visions, instead of letting these things get to us. It’s a conscious choice each of us has to make in response or reaction to the events and developments. This is the state of affairs that lead into this new cycle for which the Sabian Symbol states:

“A large white dove bearing a message. Keynote: The answer of spiritual agencies to thorough, sustained and victorious individual efforts – CERTIFICATION of individual worth and victory.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolical Phases”, Pages 261-262)

Aquarius NM 2016

The suggestion here is to be mindful of our attitude and approach if we want to succeed. A mind at harmony and a heart at peace will enable us to bridge our differences. This is the higher expression of Aquarian energies. Aquarius is a fixed air sign that rules the intellect and the emotional and social intelligences in particular, which is symbolized by the waterbearer, who pours the cosmic waters of new life and inspiration into a ‘ready’ urn (a structured/disciplined mind). Where this New Moon falls into your chart you have to put in an effort in this regard and consciously work on bringing peace and harmony to this area of your life and the reward will be reassuring as well as empowering.

Tarot card of the day is the “Queen of Pentacles”, representing an aspect of ourselves or others that is concerned about economic security and the promotion of physical wellbeing. We’re not only tending for ourselves, but also for our possessions. This involves being practical and capable in business affairs, in particular what effective management concerns, where we need to employ down-to-earth common sense and help things to flourish. Putting duty first, we use our resourcefulness to provide stability, to safeguard and to preserve.
