– Annular Solar Eclipse/New Moon at 8:12 Pisces at 6:58 am PST
– Mars-Uranus-Eris conjunction in Aries opposite Jupiter Rx in Libra
– Juno in Capricorn trine Ceres in Taurus
The Pisces New Moon is a Solar Eclipse. A solar eclipse occurs at a New Moon when the Moon, the Earth and the Sun align with the Moon’s nodal axis and the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring Earth’s view of the Sun. During an annular solar eclipse the Sun and the Moon are exactly in line, but the Moon is too far away and thus too small to completely cover the Sun’s disc. Hence, the Sun appears as a very bright ring, or annulus, surrounding the dark ball of the Moon.
In astrological terms this means, things that have been eclipsed or concealed in the area of our life, represented by the house in our natal chart, where the Eclipse has an impact, have now a chance to be brought into the light of conscious awareness, triggering individual and collective transitions, marked by endings and new beginnings. An Eclipse is a pattern-setting event with duration for up to half a year and longer. Eclipses belong furthermore to a larger pattern; each Eclipse is a member of a family and each family has specific characteristics.
The current Solar Eclipse is a member of the Saros Series 19 South, which means the Pisces New Moon/Solar Eclipse is conjunct the South Node of the Moon, a point of extraction, which is triggering the release as well as the filtering of accumulated energies. This Saros Series was the last time around in February 1999, whereas the same degree was activated in February 1998 (look for the common theme) and it’s hallmark is a Venus-Jupiter conjunction with Uranus being on the midpoint of New Moon/Jupiter, for which Bernadette Brady gives the following interpretation:
“This is a family of eclipses that brings with it the element of the pleasant surprise. Sudden happiness, a joyful event, the lucky break, the lucky win. The events, which will be occurring, can be believed and can positively change the person’s life.”
(Bernadette Brady, “The Eagle and The Lark”, Predictive Astrology, Appendices, Page 336)
Thus, the chart for this special celestial event shows a powerful and dynamic aspect pattern, tying the Pisces New Moon/Solar Eclipse to the Mars-Uranus-Eris conjunction in Aries, which is opposed by retrograde Jupiter in Libra, with tense octile aspects. As a consequence, there is a strong impetus for self-determined, assertive action propelling us forward, mobilizing our energies and driving this new beginning. Things have been set in motion so that we can let go of the past and conditions that victimized or trapped us in undesired circumstances we didn’t seem to be able to escape from. Therefore, we’re yearning for closure, for an end or release from this situation.
The tables are turning and we’re readying ourselves for a fresh start, while confronting the social injustices, unbalanced ways of growth and contradicting viewpoints we had to experience and endure head-on. Although we are aware that the change we’re striving for will create a conflict of interest with other parties, we know we have no choice, but to raise the stakes and push forward with our agenda if we want to succeed at all. We cannot wait on others any longer, put our life on hold or delay intentions we set a while ago. Instead, it is critical now that we come to our own rescue and save ourselves for our own sakes.
The Sabian Symbol for the New Moon at 8:12 Pisces states:
“A jockey spurs his horse, intend on outdistancing his rivals. Keynote: Intense mobilization of energy and skill in the drive for success in any social performance affected by the competitive spirit – SELF-QUICKENING.”
(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 Symbolical Phases”, Pages 273-274)
Suggested by this symbolical imagery is that the race for self-realization according to ideals, visions and images we’ve conceived and shaped over time, has begun and that we let our inspiration carry us toward our goal. Our focus is on ‘winning’ and we’re rousing our energies to bring this about. As a consequence, the pace of developments will most likely accelerate.
Tarot card of the day is the “Ace of Swords”, indicating a new way of thinking or the conception of an idea or the start of a new project. Our mental powers have been awakened and we’re seeing through illusions, cutting through the confusion, dispelling doubts, finding out the facts, thinking our way through or championing a cause. It’s a time of great insight and mental clarity, which could result in a break-through or aha-moment as well as a greater understanding.
