Reaching its northernmost point from the equator, the Sun’s ingress to Cancer at 9:24 pm PDT tonight marks the summer solstice and the beginning of summer. Consequently, here in the Northern Hemisphere, we experience the longest day, whereas for the Southern Hemisphere it is the longest night and the start of winter. In temperate regions, we notice that the Sun is higher in the sky throughout the day, and its rays strike Earth at a more direct angle, causing the efficient warming we call summer. As the Sun seems to ‘stand still’ (sol sistere) high in the sky, we transition into ‘stasis’ and have a chance to pause, stop and take stock before fully committing ourselves to the new season. Individual development is at peak. There is liveliness and vibrancy as well as a re-gathering and refocusing of intent.
A time of Self-nurturance and Self-growth, of sustaining our sense of Self and supporting our center as well as taking care of our Self-realization, is beginning now and we’re setting our intentions accordingly. It’s a critical time destiny-wise, because we need to turn a corner in regard to a long-standing problem that has been preventing us from moving forward and making progress. This led to the realization that we can’t and won’t continue walking down the same road, but have to do things differently so that we can truly start over. Challenged by these unbalanced perspectives and options, we have to review our relationship dynamics and decide if they work for us or limit and restrict us. Therefore, it’s up to us to set boundaries and even end one-sided relationships so that we can concentrate on our future prospects, instead of putting them to the side. For this purpose, which will be the main objective of the new season, we need to foster motivation and drive together with the necessary self-determination that will inspire us to break out of past patterns that have been holding us back from creating the life we want for ourselves.
Tarot card of the day is the “9 of Wands”, suggesting that we’ll be seeing something through to the end and will persist against the odds or despite of setbacks. There might be a last test or challenge before we can reach success, but as long as we don’t give up, we will achieve our goals. Therefore, it is important that we show stamina and keep our resolve. We will eventually prosper if we maintain our position with patience and vigilance.
