Astro-Notes on July 30, 2017 – First Quarter Moon in Scorpio

Daily Aspects:
– Venus in Gemini square Chiron Rx in Pisces and sextile Uranus in Aries
– First Quarter Moon at 7:39 Scorpio/Leo at 8:23 am PDT
– Mercury in Virgo trine Juno Rx in Capricorn
– Mars in Leo sesqui-quadrate Saturn Rx in Sagittarius

The Leo Sun is heading from a tense sesqui-quadrate aspect to retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius into the First Quarter Moon square with the waxing Scorpio Moon and Mars in Leo is following the Sun’s lead, while Venus in Gemini is casting a square to retrograde Chiron in Pisces and a sextile to Uranus in Aries and Mercury in Virgo forms a trine to retrograde Juno in Capricorn.

So, this is quite a complex and dynamic aspect setup for the ‘crisis in action’ that accompanies this stage in the lunation cycle. What started a few days ago with the Sun-Mars conjunction in fiery, self-expressive Leo is now putting us under considerable stress, because we’re experiencing performance or identity pressure and could feel potentially overwhelmed and insecure as a consequence.

The ‘conflagration’ (keyword of the Sabian Symbol for the Leo New Moon) is testing our personal power and resolve as the drama unfolds. Therefore, it is critical that we overcome ourselves and begin to trust in our abilities, which means we need to convince ourselves that we can do this.
Although we may have mixed feelings about it due to greater responsibilities, increased limitations or lack of expertise, we have to remind ourselves that this is what we have been waiting and longing for – it is our show and also our choice. If we want to make progress we have to take heart and go along with the opportunities we’re presented with. A relationship we have established provides the foundation for our ideas and plans.

Tarot card of the day is the “2 of Cups”, suggesting that there is a mutual understanding between the people involved in a relationship and that interactions are balanced and harmonious, because of an awareness of the expectations each person has, which allows for growth and very special relationships. Our focus is on win-win situations as we show kindness and thoughtfulness.

Astro-Notes on July 23, 2017 – Leo New Moon

Daily Aspects:
– Moon ingress to Leo at 1:33 am PDT
– New Moon at 0:44 Leo at 2:45 am PDT
– Vesta in Virgo sesqui-quadrate Pluto Rx in Capricorn
– Pallas in Taurus sesqui-quadrate Saturn Rx in Sagittarius
– Venus in Gemini opposite Saturn Rx in Sagittarius and semi-square Pallas in Taurus
– Chiron Rx in Pisces semi-sextile Uranus in Aries

A New Moon in Leo is a time when we set intentions toward developing our individuality and self-confidence, shining in our creative self-expression and following our heart’s desires, looking at life like a game and taking risks, having an ‘it’s up to me’ attitude and strengthening our willpower, enjoying life, having fun and focusing on our inner child, affirming our sense of Self as well as our identity and taking center stage.

The Leo New Moon that transpired in the early morning hours today is the first of two in this fiery, ego- and heart-centered sign (there will be another one in August that is a Angry man with flamesTotal Solar Eclipse) and it is activating the very first degree of Leo in close conjunction to Mars. Consequently, the new impulse that has been sounding forth at the birth of this lunation cycle is raw, unbridled and impulsive, bestowing the cycle with pure, red hot energy that spurs our drive, adds dramatic flare to our intentions and arouses our passions.

The Sabian Symbol for the New Moon at 0:44 Leo states:

“Blood rushes to a man’s head as his vital energies are mobilized under the spur of ambition. Keynote: An irruption of bio-psychic energies into the ego-controlled field of consciousness – CONFLAGRATION.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 Symbolical Phases”, Pages 131-132)

Implied by this symbolical image is that we experience an intensification of our urge to act or react that serves us a strong motivator. A matter that is important to us is lighting our fire and gets us going after our desires. Feeling vitalized and energized, we’re ready and willing to conquer the world.

Leo NM 2017

However, with Pallas in Taurus engaged in a tense sesqui-quadrate aspect to retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius and Venus in Gemini approaching a semi-square to the former and an opposition to the latter, while Vesta in Virgo is casting another sesqui-quadrate aspect to retrograde Pluto in Capricorn, this is a time of many crises in our life when we are undergoing lots of inner pressure due to increased responsibilities, duties or burdens and circumstances we need to manage better or more effectively and constructively.

Therefore, instead of feeling overly stressed or taxed, because we’re struggling to meet the demands of various social engagements, while also seeking to satisfy our own wants, we have to review these matters, which extends to looking at our priorities and values and re-order or re-rank them according to their importance in the larger scheme of things and thus, finding ways to make space for both of them by working out agreements, making compromises and generally being flexible.
Mercury in Leo, who is Venus’s dispositor, enters his shadow period tomorrow and will then make ingress to Virgo, which means that plans and arrangements made during this period will come up for review and rethinking.

Furthermore, we need to be more consistent and perseverant in our approach and dedicate us methodically and conscientiously to our causes to be able to get on top of our affairs. Proper time management, especially systematic preparing, planning and organizing, is essential to this purpose and helps us to be more productive. This though requires a lot of self-control and discipline on our part, but will ultimately lead to personal growth and empowerment. Yes, it will get busy during this cycle, however, it is up to us how we will experience and enjoy this as we’re ‘playing the game of life’.

Tarot card of the day is the “5 of Swords”, suggesting that we’re dealing with mixed feelings about life in general and experiencing conflict or discord – inner as well as outer. The more important is it to pick our battles wisely and think before we act. There are boundaries and limitations in life situations we must accept, even though they could make us feel powerless. In this regard, we must overcome ourselves and focus on our needs in order to regain our composure. On the other hand, this card can indicate victory or achievement, which has been well-deserved and long-awaited, but only if we don’t give in to defeat.

Astro-Notes on July 16, 2017 – Third Quarter Moon in Aries

Daily Aspects:
– Mercury in Leo semi-square Ceres in Cancer and quincunx Pluto Rx in Capricorn
– Third Quarter Moon at 24:26 Aries/Cancer at 12:25 pm PDT
– Sun in Cancer semi-sextile NN in Leo/quincunx SN in Aquarius
– Venus in Gemini semi-square Uranus in Aries
– Moon ingress to Taurus at 10:04 pm PDT

The Cancer Sun comes out of a square to Eris in Aries before he engages with the waning Aries Moon in the Third Quarter Square on which he follows up with adjusting aspects to the nodal axis.
This means that yesterday’s energies could have challenged us in a nurturing role, where we had to take action to either take care of our own needs or care for and help someone else for the sake of our self-interests. However, we had to overcome our own subjectivity in this matter and not react defensively or mindless or being unsupportive, because that could have resulted in discord or strife.

With this scenario leading into the ‘crisis of consciousness’ that accompanies this particular phase in the lunation cycle, we might realize how important it is to focus on caring and nurturing, especially in a family setting or home environment so that we can create the life we want in the near future. Therefore, instead of thinking only of our own agenda, we have to get our stuff together and concentrate on the circumstances we need to manage.

With both, Venus and Mars, involved in tense aspects to Uranus, we feel the pressure to make progress with our personal priorities and long to move ahead with our intentions, yet we struggle with defeat, unproductive habits we’ve developed and familiar reactions, which have their roots in the past and are not helpful. Thus, it is critical at this point that we break out of these patterns and turn a corner by changing our value system and start putting energy into activities or initiatives that will support us in this process.

Tarot card of the day is the “Knight of Swords”, indicating that we’re embarking on a new project or idea and there’s no stopping us. We’re headstrong and outspoken as we know what we are talking about and let others know where we or they stand, thereby going straight to the point. Certain things can no longer be avoided – the confrontation will come and commence. Determined and energetic, we’re charging ahead, focused on our goal. However, hasty and impulsive moves can get us into trouble or too far ahead of ourselves. Therefore, we need to be ready to make adjustments as we go along, including jumping in and out of a situation. Moreover, our impatience with problems we encounter could leave us stressed and overly concerned with our own issues, resulting in a single-minded attitude.

Astro-Notes on July 8, 2017 – Capricorn Full Moon

Daily Aspects:
– Jupiter in Libra quincunx Neptune Rx in Pisces
– Mars in Cancer quincunx Saturn Rx in Sagittarius
– Chiron Rx in Pisces semi-sextile Uranus in Aries
– Sun in Cancer opposite Pluto Rx in Capricorn
– Full Moon at 17:09 Cap/Cancer at 9:06 pm PDT

A Full Moon in the Capricorn/Cancer polarity highlights the parental axis or the paternal and maternal archetypes expressed in our professional and personal lives by way of confrontation, thereby revealing a conflict that needs to be recognized, balanced and integrated.

This Full Moon is particularly powerful and intense, because it is aligned with retrograde Pluto in Capricorn to which Venus in Gemini is also engaged by sesqui-quadrate aspect. Consequently, a structure, foundation, job or position we’ve relied upon for support, nurturing or belonging in the past, has outlived its purpose and therefore, it’s not constructive to sustain it any longer. Or it could be a burden, limitation or illness we’ve been struggling with for a long time that has come to a head and now that we realized this, we’re ready to quit this habit, diet or way of nurturing (this could have happened already on July 2 when Mars opposed Pluto and is coming to a conclusion now) by adapting our priorities and preferences.

Although we might have mixed feelings about this for several reasons, it will prove empowering and life-changing in the end. With Ceres in Gemini in square aspect to retrograde Chiron in Pisces, we have reached a turning point in regard to the wounding and healing principle that challenges us to come up with different avenues for support or with a different diet or nutrition plan and this includes informing ourselves about these matters and getting to know our environment.

The quincunxes from Jupiter in Libra to retrograde Neptune in Pisces and from Mars in Cancer to retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius require a course correction and an adjustment of our options, especially in the social sphere, together with our intentions or activities to be able to meet certain expectations and responsibilities.

As the Cancer lunation culminates in the Capricorn Full Moon, the impulse that sounded forth at the time of the Capricorn New Moon back at the end of December of last year also reaches its highpoint. Thus, in the symbolical language of the Sabians – ‘the testing of the will’ (keynote of the Sabian Symbol for the Cancer New Moon) has led to ‘political power’ (keynote of the Sabian Symbol for the Capricorn Full Moon), whereas ‘the wholesome happiness of the joyously singing domesticated birds’ (Sabian Symbol and keynote for the Capricorn NM from December 28 2016) has resulted in ‘practical concern with everyday nourishment necessary to sustain one’s outreaching activities’ (keynote of the Sabian Symbol for the Cancer Sun) – the time of carefree existence is over. We might have to put our nose to the grindstone in order to be able to sustain our way of life.

The Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon at 17:09 Capricorn states:

“The Union Jack flag flies from a British warship. Keynote: The protection afforded to individuals and groups by powerful institutions in charge of maintaining order – POLITICAL POWER.”

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 17:09 Cancer states:

“A hen scratching the ground to find nourishment for her progeny. Keynote: The practical concern with everyday nourishment necessary to sustain one’s outreaching activities – FULFILLING OF LIFE’S RESPONSIBILITIES.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 Symbolical Phases”, Pages 240 and 122, respectively)

Upending the old order or replacing an old pattern could put us in control of our life. However, we’re relying on ourselves now for nurturance and supply and thus have to provide for our needs.

Capricorn FM 2017

Tarot card of the day is the “Knight of Pentacles”, a card that contains an element of perfectionism and refers to ambitiousness. It indicates that we are unwavering in the pursuit of a goal, assess our circumstances candidly, are diligent, meticulous and industrious, follow a routine and pay attention to the mundane and normal parts of life. We assume responsibility and take charge of a situation by accomplishing what is expected from us. This card has a grounding influence.
