A Full Moon in the Capricorn/Cancer polarity highlights the parental axis or the paternal and maternal archetypes expressed in our professional and personal lives by way of confrontation, thereby revealing a conflict that needs to be recognized, balanced and integrated.
This Full Moon is particularly powerful and intense, because it is aligned with retrograde Pluto in Capricorn to which Venus in Gemini is also engaged by sesqui-quadrate aspect. Consequently, a structure, foundation, job or position we’ve relied upon for support, nurturing or belonging in the past, has outlived its purpose and therefore, it’s not constructive to sustain it any longer. Or it could be a burden, limitation or illness we’ve been struggling with for a long time that has come to a head and now that we realized this, we’re ready to quit this habit, diet or way of nurturing (this could have happened already on July 2 when Mars opposed Pluto and is coming to a conclusion now) by adapting our priorities and preferences.
Although we might have mixed feelings about this for several reasons, it will prove empowering and life-changing in the end. With Ceres in Gemini in square aspect to retrograde Chiron in Pisces, we have reached a turning point in regard to the wounding and healing principle that challenges us to come up with different avenues for support or with a different diet or nutrition plan and this includes informing ourselves about these matters and getting to know our environment.
The quincunxes from Jupiter in Libra to retrograde Neptune in Pisces and from Mars in Cancer to retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius require a course correction and an adjustment of our options, especially in the social sphere, together with our intentions or activities to be able to meet certain expectations and responsibilities.
As the Cancer lunation culminates in the Capricorn Full Moon, the impulse that sounded forth at the time of the Capricorn New Moon back at the end of December of last year also reaches its highpoint. Thus, in the symbolical language of the Sabians – ‘the testing of the will’ (keynote of the Sabian Symbol for the Cancer New Moon) has led to ‘political power’ (keynote of the Sabian Symbol for the Capricorn Full Moon), whereas ‘the wholesome happiness of the joyously singing domesticated birds’ (Sabian Symbol and keynote for the Capricorn NM from December 28 2016) has resulted in ‘practical concern with everyday nourishment necessary to sustain one’s outreaching activities’ (keynote of the Sabian Symbol for the Cancer Sun) – the time of carefree existence is over. We might have to put our nose to the grindstone in order to be able to sustain our way of life.
The Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon at 17:09 Capricorn states:
“The Union Jack flag flies from a British warship. Keynote: The protection afforded to individuals and groups by powerful institutions in charge of maintaining order – POLITICAL POWER.”
The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 17:09 Cancer states:
“A hen scratching the ground to find nourishment for her progeny. Keynote: The practical concern with everyday nourishment necessary to sustain one’s outreaching activities – FULFILLING OF LIFE’S RESPONSIBILITIES.”
(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 Symbolical Phases”, Pages 240 and 122, respectively)
Upending the old order or replacing an old pattern could put us in control of our life. However, we’re relying on ourselves now for nurturance and supply and thus have to provide for our needs.
Tarot card of the day is the “Knight of Pentacles”, a card that contains an element of perfectionism and refers to ambitiousness. It indicates that we are unwavering in the pursuit of a goal, assess our circumstances candidly, are diligent, meticulous and industrious, follow a routine and pay attention to the mundane and normal parts of life. We assume responsibility and take charge of a situation by accomplishing what is expected from us. This card has a grounding influence.
