Astro-Notes on January 4, 2015 – Cancer Full Moon

Daily aspects:
– Mercury in Capricorn semi-square Chiron in Pisces and ingress to Aquarius at 8:07 pm EST (until March 13)
– Venus in Aquarius sextile Saturn in Sagittarius
– Sun in Capricorn sextile Chiron in Pisces and square nodal axis
– Full Moon at 14:30 Cancer/Capricorn at 11:53 pm EST

Certain revelations have caused us a rather painful reality check with serious implications and therefore, we want to make sure that we have our bases covered and are prepared and ready for more structuring experiences these developing circumstances will bring into our lives. Tonight we enter a period of progressive, outside-the-box thinking and specialized learning, when we have a chance to reform our mind and upgrade information or data, when connections, associations and daily routines change and when we focus on progress, proceedings, networking and the future. Moreover, we reached a turning point destiny-wise and can now take advantage of the ‘fluid’ or revealed situation together with the lessons we learnt to evaluate and work out long-standing problems, which have been a source of frustration, hindrance, non-achievement and other difficulties or of wounding, which necessitates healing through the use of our authority for constructive purposes and solutions. Consequently, as the Capricorn lunation cycle culminates in the Cancer Full Moon, the impulse that sounded forth at the time of the Cancer New Moon back in June 2014 comes to fruition as well. Thus, the “Indian chief, who claimed power from the assembled tribe” (Sabian Symbol for the Capricorn New Moon) finds himself together with his people ‘consumed, nurtured and filled’ by the experience, whereas the “game birds, who feathered their nests in an instinctual dedication to new forms of life” (Sabian Symbol for the Cancer New Moon on June 26, 2014) are strengthening their commitment and “tender care” for their ‘brood’ by seeking to “neutralize the destructive tensions” the exposure to the environment has led to, especially if they chewed off more than they could eat.

The Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon at 14:30 Cancer states:
“In a sumptuous dining hall guests relax after partaking of a huge banquet. Keynote: The need that exists at an early stage of human growth to materialize the concept of fulfillment – MATERIALIZATION OF THE SPIRITUAL.”

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 14:30 Capricorn states:
“In a hospital the children’s ward is filled with toys. Keynote: The responsibility of society to ensure the welfare and total health of the new generation – TENDER CARE as well as skill to neutralize the destructive tensions of social living.”

Cancer FM 2015

In order to keep growing and prospering as well as in charge or command over our operations and organizations we have to tend to the wounds we incurred in the process and cure our ills, bridge or replace the weak links and also find our blind spots. As things stand, some ‘chiefs’ might not ‘fit their shoes’ or fill out the requirements or expectations of their position and have to be moved or removed as a result, while others could take on more responsibilities. We’re starting over once again, trying to ‘get it right’ this time. “Materialization of the spiritual” in this context means for us to continue with the implementation of our dream or vision in spite of the setbacks and struggles we experienced.

Tarot card of the day is the Page of Cups”, representing some sort of beginning or renewal, which could herald a positive message we respond to in an emotional manner. Our intuition is sharp today and creative energy is trying to burst forth into our consciousness. Therefore, we need to be open to receive, express our emotions and let our heart lead the way. This card encourages us to take a fresh perspective on a difficult issue and to allow our creative Self to come to the fore so that a sense of freedom may reappear in our life.

Astro-Notes on January 9, 2012 – Cancer Full Moon

The Capricorn lunation cycle culminated with the Cancer Full Moon at 2:30 am EST, that was followed by Eris’ station at 21:23 Aries at 2:33 am EST, who has been in retrograde motion since July 19, 2011. Thus, the spirit of competitiveness is concentrated at this time of illumination, bringing forth the ‘new’ identity we formed since last summer. Consequently, “the large diamond” we’ve become after “the first stages of the cutting process” will be revealed as we’re called upon to “fully manifest an ideal we’ve been arduously training for” (keynote for the Cancer New Moon of July 2011). As the original impulse regarding “A strong desire to prove oneself” (keynote for the Capricorn New Moon) peaks, we’re provided with a measure of success and failure in this context that could either manifest in form of victory or a state of discord and affect the accompanying feelings accordingly, which means we feel either accomplished or defeated. With Mercury in Capricorn in sextile aspect to Chiron in Pisces and the Full Moon (Moon in Cancer/Sun in Capricorn) in adjusting aspect(s) to Pallas in Aquarius (quincunx and semi-sextile), we have a chance to become aware of limiting, narrow or Self-defeating thoughts, gestures and messages we’ve been sending out or have our thought process based on. Therefore, we need to make a choice and let go off this way of thinking in order to end our suffering and Self-undoing, while employing an updated, progressive strategy instead that allows us to come together in mind and spirit and find common ground. As Venus in Aquarius squares Juno in Scorpio, changing our values and preferences is essential if we want to transform our relationship principle and for that matter issues regarding dependency versus self-sufficiency (Cancer/Capricorn axis) and subsequently feel empowered as well as independent and liberated.

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 18:25 Cancer states:

“A priest performing a marriage ceremony. Keynote: The ritualization of productive interpersonal relationships – SANCTION.”

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 18:25 Capricorn states:

“A five-year-old child carrying a bag filled with groceries. Keynote: Rising to the occasion when asked to assume social responsibilities ahead of one’s normal development – ACCELERATED GROWTH.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolic Phases”, Pages 123 and 240-241, respectively)

Implied by these symbolical pictures is “a blessing” to awaken spiritually and emotionally that ‘rushes’ us ahead of our natural development in order to be able to fulfill our role in the ‘evolution of humanity’ (number 5 is the number of humanity).

After the Moon’s ingress to Leo at 11:35 pm EST and instant square to Jupiter in Taurus, our focus centers on ourselves and our creative potential, whereby we’re challenged to sustain and ensure our continuing growth.

Tarot card of the day is the “Ace of Cups”, which is a symbol of fulfillment and can represent the beginning of a new relationship. In any case, love is the essence of the situation and therefore, when connecting to others, we should be guided by the principle of love and unity, make peace with ourselves and everybody else and allow our genuine emotions to shine through. We’re at a point of our lives where we feel comfortable with who we are and what we feel and aren’t afraid to express that part of ourselves. Open to new possibilities, we see new potential, allow for our creative juices to flow, for our talents to unfold and share our gifts. There is a chance of ‘new life’ – no matter whichever form this may take. We’re ready to ‘conceive’ and give.

Personal Note: With the transiting Sun in Capricorn in square to my natal Venus in Libra and in sextile to my natal Neptune in Scorpio yesterday, I struggled with myself regarding whether to leave the comfort of my home (the Moon was in Cancer after all, yet transiting my 11th house) to join the Full Moon circle (my social circle/social creativity) or to stay in and coddle up on the couch. However, yesterday’s aspects together with the Tarot card for the day plus transiting Venus in Aquarius in trine to my North Node in Gemini in the 10th house, foretold the outcome of this rather vacillating phase I underwent. It was not that I didn’t want to participate – on the contrary – the prospect of entering this ‘sacred space’ again that is Angie’s store and of connecting with my ‘social family’ always raises my spirits. However, what I most disliked about the whole ‘adventure’ was that I had to drive almost 140 km in the dark of the night on unfamiliar roads. Well, from the astrology involved I knew this was my test to prove the degree or amount of independence I had truly gained and I mastered it. I’m so glad I went there – the weather was good and the roads were free. I made only one wrong turn, which is just part of who I am, I guess, but I found my way nonetheless. Upon returning home I felt totally elevated, even though a few muscles in my body ached from the strain (with natal Mars in Virgo in opposition to Vesta in Pisces and Saturn in Aquarius my energy level is ebbing and flowing like the tides and if I strongly focus or concentrate on a task, my energy will be burning out quickly). Thus, I couldn’t think clearly anymore about the time I had to get up today and consequently got up an hour earlier than I had to. Understandably, I’m still tired after the few hours of sleep I caught, but I trust I will make it through the day.

Partial Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon in Cancer – December 31, 2009

The Sagittarius New Moon culminates with a partial lunar eclipse on December 31st at 02:12 pm EST, which is a special Full Moon across the Cancer-Capricorn axis that is also ushering in the New Year.  Because this is the second Full Moon of the calender month, it is moreover a Blue Moon. Therefore, this specialness or exceptional quality will be reverberating within the underlying vibration of the year 2010 as an echo of the preceding Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius, which accompanied the Winter Solstice and which is quite appropriate for a universal year number 3 when trends within the collective can peak or reach fruition and spread as heightened awareness comes to the forefront in dynamic-expressive waves.

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 10:14 Cancer states:
“A clown caricaturing well-known personalities. Keynote: The value of humor in developing objectivity and independence of mind – DECONDITIONING.”

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 10:14 Capricorn states:
“A large group of pheasant on a private estate. Keynote: The refinement and propagation of aristocratic values by means of which man participates in the evolution of life toward ever more perfect forms of existence – ARISTOCRACY.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolic Phases”, Pages 116-117 and 236, respectively)

As the nodal axis aligns in a cardinal t-square with Eris Rx in Aries, the state of discord, so defining of our postmodern era, is approaching yet another cross-roads, where we are challenged to move past our habitual feeling responses, familiar reactions and conditioning (Cancer) toward a more ‘mature’ expression of our evolutionary potential (Capricorn). Since the process of individualization began to operate through our species, the developments have been leading for the most part to a form of egocentrism that is a combination of extreme selfishness and rogue individualism. In our times of global interconnectness and amalgamation it becomes increasingly obvious that this trend is counterproductive to the concept of community and the global village we’re building. The outward reality we have created is reflective of the inner workings of our psyche and the strong subjectivity of our perception. Our manners and Self-assertion in our associations with others are proportional to the degree of other-awareness we have fostered and thus mirror our capacity for mindfulness (Eris).

This lunar eclipse and blue moon illuminates the private and public spheres of our life with the emphasis on the former; on our tribe or clan as the basis for the kind of relationships we will be having with the world later in life. Other aspects perfecting that day are Mercury Rx in Capricorn’s semi-square to Ceres in Sagittarius and quincunx to Mars Rx in Leo in addition to the sextiles between Ceres in Sagittarius and Saturn in Libra and Venus in Capricorn and Pallas in Scorpio. Suggested by this symbolic picture is to closely examine our past and upbringing in order to find out which beliefs, truths and morals we have inherited from our family and society. In this context, we may want to reconsider our principles and ethics together with the reasoning we use to justify our behavior and to which extend this influences our decisions. Successful problem-solving requires a certain amount of tolerance, respect and the ability to mediate. Self-righteousness aggravates and defensiveness separates. A mentality guided by revenge, hatred, fear and prejudice causes strife, divisiveness, enmity and even war. What we need to cultivate instead is a sense of belonging that is rooted in our commonalities and the things we share, inclusive our one home – the Earth.

The “Golden Rule” is a code of ethics, also called the ethics of reciprocity, that states:  “Treat others as you want to be treated. ”
