Astro-Notes on February 27, 2021 – Virgo Full Moon

At the very beginning of this day at 0:17 am PST here on the West Coast did the Aquarius lunation cycle culminate in the Virgo Full Moon. A Full Moon is a time of revelation, illumination, fulfillment or harvest, a moment of tension, conflict or opposition and endings. For the first time in a long time did I put my crystals outside to be “bathed” in the energies of the Full Moon I can now see from my window (and I have a balcony again, where I can safely place them). Although I’ve been living in this place since December, I didn’t remember this special ritual until now.

This Full Moon highlights the Virgo-Pisces axis and thus the polarity experienced in matters of service versus sacrifice, order versus dissolution, efficiency versus impracticality, effort versus escapism, discernment, observation and analysis versus uncertainty, confusion and unreality and the micro or part versus the macro or whole. Moreover, health and service- or work-related matters together with apprenticeship, training and skill improvement or perfection are coming to a head now, demanding from us to confront our “self-undoing”, suffering and victimization by pulling ourselves up on our boot straps, doing what is necessary and coming up with resolutions.

Therefore, we need to roll up our sleeves, tie up loose ends, finish work or things left incomplete, delayed or avoided. What is required of us now is to learn how to practice “practical spirituality” by turning our daily duties into rituals, finding a rhythm for daily tasks and routines that works for us and adding color to the “black and white” or dreariness of our existence.

With the Virgo Full Moon involved in a complex aspect pattern with Saturn in Aquarius, Uranus in Taurus and Chiron in Aries, personal adjustments are needed and individual choices have to be made in this regard in order to bridge the problems we are struggling with. The changes we want to see or have been waiting for have to be enacted by us. We have to get out off our own way and break the cycle or patterns that keep us stuck.

As Pallas in Aquarius is squaring Mars in Taurus and retro Vesta in Virgo is at a cross-roads with the nodal axis, we have to turn a corner and review the causes and projects we are invested in and how this is helping us in achieving our future prospects. To be able to move forward or make progress we have to change strategies and use new approaches, which assist us in advancing our causes and chances.

Jupiter in Aquarius’ trine to the North Node in Gemini shows that a chapter in our life’s story is ending, because we are inspired by the options and opportunities in our environment and understand that we have choices and thus can change our life’s direction if we decide to so.

The Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon at 8:57 Virgo states:

“An expressionist painter at work. Keynote: The urge to express one’s individualized sense of value regardless of tradition – ORIGINALITY.”

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 8:57 Pisces states:

“A jockey spurs his horse, intent on outdistancing his rivals. Keynote: Intense mobilization of energy and skill in the drive for success in any social performance affected by the competitive spirit – SELF-QUICKENING.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 Symbolical Phases”, Pages156 and 273-274)

Spring is upon us. We are coming out of a phase of ‘hybernation’ and feel our energy and motivation returning. Readying ourselves, we are prepared to make our move and show our true colors.

Tarot card of the day is the“Ace of Cups”, suggesting that love is the essence of the situation and that positive energy and emotion can be created, if we let our heart lead the way and empathize and cooperate with others. This is a time of giving and peacemaking, when we have a new opportunity to help or bring happiness to others and vice versa and when relationships can be taken to a new level or when there’s a new beginning in our interactions with others. Something is being offered to us that holds the promise of a new beginning on the emotional or spiritual level and the potential for happiness. This card can moreover represent the start of a project in which a great deal of loving and creative energy is invested. We are at a point in our life where we are comfortable with who we are and express that part to others. Moreover, we see new potential, are open to new possibilities as well as to the stimulation of our imagination, which allows our creative juices to flow and our talents to unfold. In general, we can make a fresh start and there’s a chance that things may change for the better from now on, especially what our happiness and contentment concerns.

Astro-Notes on February 11, 2021 – Aquarius New Moon

A new lunation cycle begins today at 11:05 am PST in the fixed air sign Aquarius, where already a group of planets have congregated (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn), joined by the asteroid Pallas Athene.

As several conjunctions are being formed currently, the Aquarian energy is gathering in strength and also at a peak and so are the matters and issues associated with this sign. For instance, we are experiencing an arctic blast with extreme wind chills, which is unusual (all Aquarian keywords) for our area here.

This ‘frozen, stormy air system’ is symbolic of the mental detachment, the ideologies, theories, sciences and the brainstorms we correlate with the sign Aquarius. Thus, now is an auspicious time to set our intentions on intellectual stimulation and inspiration, on originality, inventiveness, on differentiation, individualization, independence, liberation, emancipation and reform and focus on our social circle, our group purpose, collaboration, networking, change, progress, social and human rights and privileges and on the future.

The New Moon at 23:16 Aquarius is in sextile aspect to Eris in Aries, offering us a chance at individuation, authenticity, mindful experimentation and emulation by starting something new or different or that is special and unique to us. Venus’ conjunction with Jupiter in Aquarius could bring unexpected material, financial and relationship opportunities and change our beliefs or perspectives on values and priorities. Retrograde Mercury in Aquarius’ sextile to Juno in Sagittarius allows us to take advantage of a long-standing or long-distance relationship situation as we revisit previous ideas and plans we had made for the near future, while the trine from Mars in Taurus to retrograde Vesta in Virgo shows that our dedication and commitment has borne fruit as a result of our persistence and persuasion.

The Sabian Symbol for the New Moon at 23:16 Aquarius states:

“A man, having overcome his passions, teaches deep wisdom in terms of his experience. Keynote: The constructive use to which difficult past experiences can be put as examples for those who are still striving to overcome their passions – COMMUNICABILITY.”

(Dane Rudhyar, “An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and its 360 Symbolical Phases”, Page 264)

Insights gained from years of experience, trials and difficulties can serve as inspiration for our peers, the larger community and other generations.

Tarot card of the day is the “7 of Wands”,suggesting that we’re coming out on top of a situation as things are going well and projects move right along. Thus, we seize the opportunity, are firm and act resolutely as we’re going after what we want. We stand our ground and show determination, even in the face of adversity. Our inner strength and tenacity give us the ability to meet all challenges head-on.
