Astro-Notes on February 29, 2012 – Leap Day

February 29 is a special day, known as Leap Day in the Gregorian calendar that has been added every 4 years since it

was first introduced over 2000 years ago to those years that are evenly divisible by 4, such as the current year, which will therefore have 366 days instead of the usual 365. In addition to the gift of great creative inspiration we may receive today, there is the old Irish tradition of women proposing to men on this day, which is meant to balance the traditional roles of men and women in a similar way to how Leap Day balances the calendar.

Aspect-wise, we have Venus in Aries engaged in a tense sesqui-quadrate to the North Node in Sagittarius (semi-square to the South Node in Gemini), demanding from us to evaluate our long-term future prospects anew for which we need to get our priorities straight and our self-esteem up. A sense of fulfillment and personal satisfaction will be achieved once we pursue a direction of growth that is right for us and are courageous enough to take a few risks and to try new approaches, even if that means that have to start over. We just need to know that we can always be greater, go further and reach beyond. The more we love ourselves and look forward to venture out from our comfort zone, the easier it’ll be to move on. This is the lead-up to the First Quarter Moon that will transpire at 8:21 pm EST. As the waxing Gemini Moon squares the Pisces Sun, the resulting crisis in action is a test of our indestructibility (keynote for the Pisces New Moon) that challenges us to escape from ‘spiritual death’ (petrified tree trunks lie broken on desert sands was the Sabian Symbol for the Pisces New Moon) by following the flow and walking on.

Tarot card of the day is the “4 of Pentacles”, signifying the need to hold onto what we have achieved so far. Control can be gained by overcoming our present obstacles and by taking charge over our life and creating order where it is needed. We are urged to let go off anxiety and count our blessings. Our situation is not as bad as we fear. So, let’s take a leap of faith on this Leap Day.

Astro-Notes on February 28, 2012 – persistence

The Sun in Pisces casts a sextile to Pluto in Capricorn and then squares the nodal axis, thereby marking the midpoint between the eclipses (on November 25, 2011 and May 20, 2012), while providing us with a chance to gain control over our circumstances as we reach a cross-roads destiny-wise that challenges us to overcome the uncertainty and confusion we’re experiencing in regard to our path and purpose in life (the hallmark of the Saros Series 14 North to which the November eclipse belongs heralded an acute time of confusion in personal relationships, unexpected happenings in financial matters, and possible illness, even unrequited love, despair, confusion, a draining of energy, a peculiar turn of events and possible delusion – all of which we have to overcome and turn around now). With Juno in Sagittarius, disposited by the North Node’s ruler Jupiter and engaged in a square with the perfecting Pallas-Chiron conjunction in Pisces, we’ve come to a turning point that involves our relationship principle and therefore, we are asked to explore and expand our relationship dynamics to find out which tactics and maneuvers we need to employ or need no longer to employ and how to end painful issues, loss and defeat if this has been coming our way or has been underlying our interactions with others as a new synodic cycle begins that combines our mental strategy and negotiating skills with the wounding and healing principle in our life (The latest school shooting in Ohio yesterday that left one student dead and 4 others wounded is a sad example of the current energy-weather.). Thus, today we really need to get smart about this and apply what we’ve learnt in this regard.

Tarot card of the day is the “3 of Pentacles”, a card that refers to encouragement due to cooperation and collaboration. Teamwork and planning are the essential ingredients toward the achievement of our goals. We’re taking the next step toward becoming established. Improvement of our situation and success are possible if we apply the necessary effort and show persistence.

Astro-Notes on February 27, 2012 – self-sufficiency

With the semi-sextile between Vesta in Aries and Neptune in Pisces perfecting, it is essential that warrior spirit

and higher ideals complement each other. We have to be aware of lower, primal and instinctive energies in order to not act in anger or in an offensive way, even though our fighting urge has been ignited and some of us might be struggling in the wake of loss and defeat. Since Pluto in Capricorn contacted the nodal axis with a semi-sextile (North Node in Sagittarius) and a quincunx (South Node in Gemini), our life’s circumstances have forced us to take the next step in our evolution by making the necessary adjustment to our life’s direction. Thus, we may have realized that there are many levels of empowerment, depending on how we look at the situation. It is time that we learn to accept the inevitable and move on from the past. Deep within, we might know that some things were never meant for us. Instead of getting frustrated by the lack of immediate results, we need to apply a long-term perspective.

Tarot card of the day is the “9 of Pentacles”, suggesting that we’re close to reaching our goals. Therefore, we have to keep committed toward them and show self-control together with self-confidence, while carrying ourselves with grace and refinement. Moreover, we’re in harmony with our surroundings and have appreciation for the beauty and abundance we can see all around us. Self-sufficiency is strong.

Personal Note: I was called into the management’s office yesterday during my shift to inform me that I didn’t get the position I had applied for (Justice was the Tarot card, which also was pretty relevant for the Oscars). As opposed to other candidates, I was prepared for that, because the outcome was already revealed in the Tarot spread I had done. Besides, one of the things I have learnt on my journey is that I cannot attach myself to certain outcomes, but have to go with the flow and be open for what destiny has in store for me. In hindsight, I might be looking at this situation from a point of understanding I don’t have yet as the future is uncertain and I don’t have any solutions yet as to how survive under these circumstances. However, it is a gorgeous day here and I can enjoy the Sun’s rays inside my apartment as well as outside, because it’s my day off work. 🙂

Astro-Notes on February 26, 2012 – justice

The Moon makes ingress to Taurus at 9:29 am EST and instantly connects to Neptune in Pisces via sextile aspect, which could incline us toward complacency, whereby we could be longing for ideal conditions. As Venus meets Eris in conjunction in Aries, a new synodic cycle begins that involves our desire nature, personal values, assets and wellbeing and the competitive drive and discordant mentality in the sign of the warrior that is associated with instinctuality, impulsiveness and self-determination. Consequently, we are motivated by our personal and material needs and propelled by the urge to get what we want or to win out, which means we strive to fulfill our priorities first and foremost, fire up our self-esteem and do our best to come out on top.

Tarot card of the day is “Justice”, indicating that justice will be served and a fair decision will be made. The workings of karma will be evident. Therefore, an understanding of cause and effect or consequences is necessary. A sharp mind is needed and so is a clear-sighted view. This is a time to remain objective and impartial. We need to apply ethical principles, try to do what’s right and play by the rules. Thus, we can handle the situation and settle old accounts and debts.

Astro-Notes on February 25, 2012 – shining gently

The Sun in Pisces forms a sextile to Jupiter in Taurus and a semi-square to Eris in Aries, whereas Mercury

in Pisces casts a semi-square to the former and a semi-sextile to the latter. This indicates that we have a chance to sustain our Self-image and personal growth if we cultivate awareness and mindfulness, while also remaining true to who we are and believing in ourselves as well as our mission in life, as we’re bringing forth our competitive side and looking after our Self-interests. With Venus in Aries engaged in tense octile aspects to Juno in Sagittarius (sesqui-quadrate) and Chiron in Pisces (semi-square), it is critical that we understand relationship dynamics and human nature in particular before we react and judge, based on our personal values and preferences or else we can’t leave the impression we want to give of ourselves. After Vesta’s ingress to Aries at 2:03 pm EST, where she will be traversing until April 30, we’ll undergo a phase when our dedication and spirit are strong and unwavering, our energy is animating and at times unbridled, especially when we’re fighting for what’s sacred to us, and our commitment unflinching.

Tarot card of the day is the “6 of Wands”, suggesting that things are changing in a positive way. There is the possibility of acclaim and acknowledgment. It could be our day to shine or we could be coming out on top. We strive to be successful and seek to promote ourselves more frequently in order to gain the recognition we desire. However, it is important that we keep the ego in check.

Personal Note: It started snowing yesterday and then the weather got really nasty until we had all white-out conditions. My windows were so completely covered with snow flurries that I couldn’t see outside anymore. Fortunately, I didn’t have to drive, but I will have today and it’s still snowing and less than ideal out there. Not to mention that I have to refill the windshield washer fluid and the engine oil in my car before I’ll be hitting the road. With the Sun-Chiron conjunction in Pisces yesterday exactly conjunct my DSC-Vesta conjunction (opposite ASC), a few of my experiences were related to the wounding and healing principle. For one thing, I got my water bill, which is outrageously high due to the basic charges that top my consumption by 13 to 1, calculated by the hours I have to work for that. The Internet site, where I’m filing my income taxes, was down all day, which prevented me from working on that. However, I cannot complete this file anyway, because I need my ex’s info and he hasn’t received anything yet. So, I wasn’t really in a good mood when I called the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance a second time, because I had received another of their surveys, even though I had asked them to take me off their list, which requires from me to make a long-distance call on my charge. What a waste of paper. Thinking of that and of the trees they cut down for these useless administrative purposes made me really mad. Since I again talked to an answer machine, I can only hope that this was the end of it and that I won’t receive any further correspondence. On the plus side, I chatted with my best friend Christina in the morning, which always uplifts me, while it saddens me at the same time that we’re not closer. Another friend called later in the afternoon and made an appointment for Sunday. We also enjoyed a nice connection.
