Reflections on June 14th, 2010 – multi-agent initiative

The day began under a Mercury-Eris semi-square that demanded to take up the initiative and to dare, thereby addressing the issue directly and boldly. Venus’ Leo ingress bestowed us with the necessary courage and confidence that allows an optimistic approach, especially with her trine to Uranus in Aries, a stimulus that triggered our desire for progress as well as responsiveness to new positive vibes. Her quincunx to Chiron Rx in Pisces showed our overwhelming wish to end our suffering and the inner longing for healing of a wound, where we’ve been losing all hope.

In a newly optimistic tone, U.S. President Barack Obama promised Monday that “things are going to return to normal” along the stricken Gulf Coast and the region’s fouled waters will be in even better shape than before the catastrophic BP oil spill. With Obama hoping to convince a frightened Gulf Coast and a skeptical nation that he is in command, he is marshaling the tools at a president’s disposal: a two-day visit via Air Force One, helicopter and boat in the region, a prime-time speech Tuesday night from the symbolically important stage of the Oval Office and a face-to-face White House showdown Wednesday with the executives of the oil company that leased the rig that exploded April 20 and led to the leak of millions of gallons of coast-devastating crude. One focus of Obama’s remarks was the region’s seafood, which faces growing doubts around the country but which Obama pronounced safe. He noted he had some for lunch — including mini crab cakes, fried shrimp and shrimp salad sandwiches — and found it “delicious.” To further allay fears, the president announced what he called a “comprehensive, coordinated and multi-agency initiative” to protect the seafood industry that is the pride and economic engine of the region. The effort is to include increased facility inspections and monitoring of fish caught just outside the contaminated zone.
In Washington, meanwhile, documents released by a congressional committee indicated that BP took measures to cut costs in the weeks before the well blowout as it dealt with problems that led a company engineer to describe the doomed rig as a “nightmare well.” – He’s doing his best to sell optimism. If he will live up to his promises only time will tell. Important is that they will succeed in fixing this disaster and at the same time make sure something like that won’t ever happen again. The despicable business practices of companies who make billions of dollars in only a quarter annual period are the real problem that needs to be addressed. – Venus in Leo’s aspect engagement is well represented; i.e. delicate, delicious food; the gulf coast in even better shape; the seafood industry as the pride and the engine of the region.

A teacher has been fired for premarital sex from her employer – the Southland Christian School in St. Cloud, Florida, and they didn’t even keep that as a private matter. They took the liberty to inform her 4th- grade students and their parents about the exact reason she was fired – namely ‘fornication’. Wow, I had to read twice where that happened, because it sounds like a story from the Arab world. Well, who sits in a glasshouse shouldn’t throw with stones, dear righteous ones. Apparently, we found a way to time-travel that brings us directly back to the middle ages. This is an excellent example of a paternalistic worldview spun out of control, whereby the churchly institution assumes a role of dominance that robs humans of their individuality and the freedom to enjoy their lives and make choices for themselves (Venus in Leo trine Uranus-Jupiter, quincunx Chiron Rx).

Tarot card of the day was “The Druid”, which is in other decks the card of “The Pope” (or Hierophant). How appropriate! The Hierophant relates to the dramatic and traditional elements of marriage! In my Celtic Tarot deck this card is The Druid, signifying guidance from above – a remarkable difference between these two religions – the former is institutionalized (the pope, pontiff) and the latter is a nature religion, which also comes through in those 2 examples I chose. While the U.S. President is acting in his role in the sense of inspiring positiveness and optimism, the principal of the Christian school is enforcing a policy/approach that actually condemns people and their humanity. Very interesting in the context of the Gemini lunation and dualism, where the “rhythmic, healthful activity in a natural setup” and the “wholesome enjoyment of organic processes and emotional drives” are emphasized.

Personally, I felt the drain from the ailment I’ve been struggling with and the boring weekend failed to inspire me. I had to literally force myself to write on the blog and to respond to the mails and with Mercury in Gemini they keep coming! LOL. It seemed almost as if my mind was somewhere else for the last couple of days, which made it really tough to focus and therefore I refrained from commenting also. But it appears as though I’m on the right track now. 🙂
