Reflections on June 17th, 2010 – a moral choice

Venus in Leo activated the Pallas-Pluto sextile yesterday with a square and a quincunx, respectively, which could have lowered our confidence level considerably and the deeper we probed or got involved in the problem the more intense this could have felt and the more important was it to regain control of our center, the seat of our emotions. This required to shift our focus from what feels upsetting and even threatening to what makes us feel good and appreciated.

BP Chief Executive Tony Hayward faced the wrath of U.S. lawmakers on Thursday as investors welcomed a plan to set up a $20 billion fund to cope with Gulf of Mexico oil spill claims. A grim-faced Hayward, facing withering questions from lawmakers in an all-day hearing, was not able to shed much light and left congress flummoxed. – ‘Darkness’ prevailed, but the battle has intensified and the money is secured (Venus relates to the financial, emotional and relationship aspect of the situation). However:  The acting inspector general at the Interior Department, which oversees MMS (Minerals Management Service), told that panel that the agency is going about the probe of the BP spill all wrong and that the agency needs a complete overhaul. New regulations aren’t enough, she testified. The entire culture of the place needs to change. Not only are MMS inspectors underpaid and inadequately trained, they also have too many rigs to monitor, said Kendall. She noted that just 60 MMS inspectors are responsible for 4,000 rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, while the Pacific Coast has 10 inspectors for 23 facilities. – RESTRUCTURING is the right approach (Venus/Pallas) with Pluto in Capricorn – the MMS needs to be overhauled – go to the source/root of the problem (Scorpio/Pluto influence). The deeper we dig the ‘fouler’ we find the whole structure. Surface changes won’t suffice.

More than 70 Colombian miners were trapped and feared dead Thursday in an overnight coal mine explosion that killed at least 16 miners in what could be one of the country’s worst mining accidents. – Another mining accident that exposes the safety regulations in the mining industry (Pluto rules all underground resources and in the sign Capricorn this involves the industries and their business practices plus the regulations in place; Venus indicates matters of emotional security). Cutting corners only pays off in profits (Venus-Pallas- Pluto).

Israel agreed Thursday to ease its three-year-old land blockade of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, hoping to quell international outrage over its deadly raid on a flotilla bound for the Palestinian territory. In one of the major changes, Israel will allow in more desperately needed construction materials for civilian projects, provided those projects are carried out under international supervision, government and military officials said. Israel has barely allowed in goods such as cement and steel, fearing Hamas militants could use them to build weapons and fortifications. The policy has prevented rebuilding thousands of homes and other buildings damaged in Israel’s war with Hamas last year. Israel’s shift came just one week after President Barack Obama, the country’s most important ally, said the blockade was unsustainable and called for scaling it back dramatically. Israel made the decision after extensive consultations with European and American officials. – Under political pressure (square) from their allies (Venus) they finally succumbed and eased (sextile/Venus) the blockade (Pluto in Capricorn) – a major accomplishment allowing for reconstruction (Pluto in Capricorn).

Two cards fell out of my deck “The Lovers covered by The Druid”. This suggests a moral choice based on spiritual guidance and conforming to the rules and is pretty much evident in the examples I used.

"Save yourself from too much drama" - Pallas Athene, goddess of wisdom

Personally, I spent quite some time to research natural cures and treatments and the deeper I got into this the more it brought me down, in particular what the strict regulations of a diet concerns I can only describe as overly restrictive on guilty pleasures (Venus-Pallas-Pluto). When I finally had enough of this I went outside with my astro stuff and was nicely entertained by a cardinal and a squirrel who fed on the bird seeds that were laying on the ground, while another bird was busy on the feeder. Three others had lined up on the branch of the acorn tree that holds the feeder, chirping excitedly by all this activity. In the same sense as the birds and squirrels shared their food did I share my food, my knowledge of symbols, with the nice young Lady at the organic store. The store is named “Currant” not “Current” – as I put it the other day. Seems as though I felt a current of sympathy, a strong vibe of resonance. It was her 5th anniversary and to my shame I must admit this had slipped my mind, even though the Ladies at the leisure club had mentioned it during her introduction. Well, I hope the great, long conversation we had made up a little bit for this. My original intention was to ask her for some more material about the hemp plant and her activities as an “Earth ambassador” (I bet Ceres is strong in her chart), but then we discovered that we had so much to share that we kept talking passionately while time was flying by. I enjoyed it very much and got also good advice from her as well as a sample of a powerful herbal tea made from the bark of a tree. Anyway, I’ll definitely drop by soon again and look forward to have more conversations and also to purchase some of her healthy products as well as doing something together. 🙂
